Chapter 6 – Open Season

“Ok, that’s all for today. Have a nice day,” the professor said before leaving the class in which Seohyun belonged to. It is really a rare chance to see her attending classes but she is using these opportunities to go to school as often as she could especially now that they are bound to go to Japan for their tour. Seohyun and her friends decided to eat before they went home. As usual, their group consists of majority of girls and three boys all of them are close to her; some are her friends since high school. Their group sat on one of the table outside the cafeteria and they waited for the others who ordered their food. Seohyun and one of her friends were left to their table.

“So, how’s life?” Kim Dong-guk, one of Seohyun’s friends asked her.

“It’s fine. A bit tiring but I can manage,” she answered. She felt uncomfortable sitting there with Dong-guk. After all, they haven’t known each other that long. One of her friend just introduced them when the semester started and since then Dong-guk has been a permanent fixture in their group. He’s close to everyone except Seohyun, maybe because Seohyun is always absent and busy with her schedule as a member of Girl’s Generation.

“I heard that you’re WGM stint is over. How is that?” Dong-guk asked her.

“Yeah, our contract was finished,” Seohyun answered shortly, looking around to see if their other friends are coming.

“So you’re not married anymore.”

“I guess so.”

“So if someone confesses to you then you can accept him, right?”

“Hmmmm. I think so,” Seohyun absent-mindedly said. She is more focused in looking at her friends who ordered their food.

“Say if I tell you that I like you, what would be your answer?” Dong-guk asked her quietly.

“Kim Dong-guk, what are you saying?” Seohyun asked. She’s surprised at the sudden turn of conversation that they are having. One minute, he’s asking her about her job the next minute he’s suddenly confessing.

“Seo Joohyun, I like you. A lot. Can you be my girlfriend?” Dong-guk asked her.

“I’m sorry but I can’t,” Seohyun answered bowing to him to show how sorry she was.

“Why not? You’re not dating anyone, right?”

“I’m sorry, Dong-guk. I can’t accept your feelings. I think it’s better if we’re just friends. I need to go. Will you tell the others that I left first? I remember I need to be at our dorm early. See you next time,” Seohyun hurriedly say before standing and leaving her friend in the table.

Seohyun walked faster. She needs to get out of there. Just when she entered the taxi, her phone rings.

“Hello?”

“Seohyun-a, it’s me Jinwoon.”

“Jinwoon-a, what’s up?”

“Nothing, I’m just calling to ask how you are. We haven’t seen each other lately,” Jinwoon nervously said.

“Ahh. Ne,” Seohyun answered.

“Listen, I know you’re busy right now but if you have some spare time would you like to go out sometimes?” Jinwoon asked her.

‘Not again! What’s with today?’ Seohyun thought upon hearing Jinwoon’s question. ‘First Dong-guk now it is Jinwoon’s turn.’

“Ahh. Jinwoon-a, I think it I might be busy for a while. We’re preparing for our Japanese album and tour. Also we need to rehearse for the SM Town concerts,” Seohyun answered after a short silence.

“Is that so? Don’t worry I can wait. Seohyun you know that I’ve been waiting right?” Jinwoon said on the other line.

“Jinwoon-ah. You’re really a good friend and I hope that we can be friends for a long time. Don’t you think that we’re better off as friends?”

“Oh, right. Friendship is a good start. I like being friends with you too and I can wait. I will wait for as long as it takes for you to see me as more than a friend. Can you give it a try?”

“I’m sorry, Jinwoon but I can’t.”

“Is it someone else? Do you like someone else?”

“I’m sorry Jinwoon but I can only be your friend. That’s the only thing that I can offer,” Seohyun said.

“Jinwoon? Jinwoon-ah, are you still there?” Seohyun asked after a long silence.

“Yeah.  Ah, I need to go. Seul-ong hyung is calling me already. Nice talking to you Seohyun,” Jinwoon said before hanging up the phone. Seohyun can’t do anything but sigh.

------------
Few days later…

Seohyun is waiting outside the WGM studio while her manager talks to the PDs. She and Yonghwa were supposed to visit together but due to the latter’s schedule, she ended up doing this alone. While she is busy bowing to each and every one that walks in the corridor, Junsu of 2PM saw her.

“Seohyun-ssi, annyonghaseyo,” Junsu greeted her.

“Anyonghaseyo ,” she greeted back.

“What are you doing here?”

“Oh, I’m visiting the WGM studio,” Seohyun politely answered.

“Oh, really?”

“Ne.”

“I heard that you finished your WGM stint, is that true?” Junsu asked her.

“Ne,” Seohyun answered.

“So what’s next?” Junsu asked.

“We’ll be going to Japan for our tour and then we’ll continue on SM Town concerts. I think we’ll release an album too,” Seohyun said while constantly looking out for her manager.

“Really? That’s great. We’ll be promoting in Japan too,” Junsu said excitedly.

“Ah, ne,” Seohyun answered, wishing that her manager comes out to save her from this awkward conversation. Where are her unnies when she needs them?

“Maybe, if we ever meet there, would you like to hang out?” Junsu courageously asked her.

“Uh? I don’t know. I’ll be very busy...” Seohyun said.  ‘This is not happening. Where is Manager Oppa?’

“You can bring your members and I’ll bring mine. I think it would be good to spend some time since we’ll be promoting in there together,” Junsu said trying to convince her.

“I’m not sure. I don’t think we’ll be allowed to go and even if by some miracle we were given a day off, I prefer to stay at the dorm and get some sleep. I’ll tell my unnies that you invited them though,” Seohyun said slowly excusing herself. “I need to go. I think that’s my manager calling me. Nice meeting you here,” Seohyun said before she walked away a little bit faster than expected.

‘Ugh! Now Junsu Oppa is joining them too.’ Seohyun thought while she entered the WGM studio and greeted the MCs on the show.

“Hyungsoo-nim!” Jungshin called her.

“Junshin-chingoo!” Seohyun said glad to see a friendly face after her encounter with Junsu.

“What are you doing here?” Jungshin asked her, while Seohyun bows to all the staff in the studio.

“Oh, I’m here to do my last visit. I brought some drinks and snacks too,” Seohyun answered giving them the foods that she brought.

“Hyungsoo-nim!” Minhyuk greeted her.

“Anyong!”

“Oh, Seohyun-ssi. It’s nice seeing you here,” Kim Nayoung, one of the MC talked to her.

“Anyonghaseyo, Unnie. Anyonghaseyo Misun Sunbaenim, Jungmin Sunbaenim,” Seohyun greeted the other MCs.

“Hello, Seohyun-ssi. We didn’t know that you were coming,” Park Misun said.

“Yonghwa Oppa and I planned this but Oppa suddenly has a schedule so he can’t come.”

“I see. We just recorded you’re last episode,” Kim Jungmin said.

“Yes and it was great. It’s unfortunate that you have to leave the show,” Misun said.

“I know. I learned a lot being in this show for a year. I want to thank all the staff as well as the MCs for taking care of us,” Seohyun said smiling at the hosts of the show that she’d grown to love for a year.

“Us too. You taught us some important things too. Things that people nowadays are often taking for granted,” Jungmin said seriously.

“Well, we would love to talk to you guys more but we need to go. It’s nice seeing you Seohyun-ssi. I hope we can work together in a show or something,” Misun said.

“I hope we can work together too, Misun Sunbaenim. Take care,” Seohyun said. Seohyun watched the two hosts give their goodbye greeting to the other staff before they left.

“How about some lunch? Does that sound good?” Jungshin suddenly said.

“Yes. I’m kinda hungry. Will you join us Hyungsoonim?” Minhyuk asked her.

“Sure,” Seohyun agreed and the three of them went to MBC’s cafeteria to get something to eat.

“Hyungsoonim, get us a table while Minhyuk and me will get our food,” Jungshin said when they reach the cafeteria.

“Alright,” Seohyun nodded before she picked a table at the far end. She sat alone while she waited for the two. She looked at her phone when she felt it vibrate on her lap.

‘What are you doing?’ Yonghwa’s message appeared on her phone. Seohyun smiled when she read his text.

‘I’m here in MBC. The recording just finished. I saw Misun Sunbaenim and Jungmin Sunbaenim,’ she replied.

‘Where are the boys? Jungshin and Minhyuk are supposed to be there too.’

‘I’m with them. We’re eating in the cafeteria before I go to rehearsal.’

‘Really? Those two are lucky.’

‘Why?’

‘They get to eat with you. L

‘Ah jeongmal! Oppa you’re being childish again. Have you eaten yet?’ Seohyun asked stirring the topic away from his band mates.

Knowing Yonghwa, if she let him continue they will be having another conversation about his endless jealousy.

‘I ate some sandwich. I think we’ll have a decent meal after the recording,’ Yonghwa replied.

‘Alright. Don’t forget to eat and don’t drink coffee. It’s bad for you,’ Seohyun said starting her nagging.

‘Ahrasso, Hyun Buin. Tell the boys to go directly to our company. We have some rehearsal to do too.’

‘Ok. I’ll tell them.’

‘Thanks. Love you. Miss you.’ Yonghwa sent with a couple of hearts in it as well.

‘Me too,’ Seohyun replied smiling giddily while she read Yonghwa’s messages.

“What’s up?” Minhyuk said startling Seohyun. Seohyun quickly hid her phone away from the two.

“Here’s your food,” Jungshin said arranging their food in their table.

“Thanks. Yonghwa Oppa said that you need to go to your practice room after this,” Seohyun said after their meal is placed on the table.

“Really? Did you text him?” Jungshin asked.

“Aish, I thought I can go look for some things in the mall,” Minhyuk said while eating.

“I’m sorry but he said you need to have some practice,” Seohyun said smiling at the two who is grumbling and sulking.

“Anyways, let’s enjoy the food,” Jungshin cheerfully said before demolishing his meal in front of Seohyun no less.

The three talked about everything and enjoyed their time together. They finished eating and separated in front of the lobby. The two riding their van while Seohyun riding hers. It feels great spending time with those two. Gone is the awkwardness between them and it was replaced by a friendship. It feels good to talk to her friends comfortably. Her phone rings and while thinking that it’s Yonghwa and without checking the number, she answered it cheerfully.

“Hello Oppa,” Seohyun said on the other line.

“Ah, is this Seohyun-ssi? SNSD’s Seohyun-ssi?” said the person in the other line.

Seohyun is confused as to who is calling so she check the number and found out that it is an unknown caller. “May I know who is calling?” she politely answered.

“Ah-hem. This is Song Dongwoon. Beast’s maknae. Anyonghaseyo,” the other line said.

“Ahhh. Ne. How did you get my number?” Seohyun awkwardly said.

“I got it from a friend. Actually, I stole it. He doesn’t know that I took your number,” Dongwoon said laughing nervously.

“Ah, ne. Why did you call?” Seohyun asked.

“Uh, about that, I was just wondering if.... you know....if .....ever you have some time....maybewecanhangout?” Dongwoon said stuttering and finishing his questions quickly.

“What? Can you say that again? I didn’t get it,” Seohyun said.

“I’m asking if ever you have some free time, would you like to hang out?” Dongwoon asked again.

“Ah,” Seohyun said stalling for answer. It surprised her to hear Dongwoon asking her out. She never talked to him except the occasional greetings when their group met at the music shows. To tell the truth, she is really flabbergasted.

“As friends. We can hang out as friends first if that will make you more comfortable,” Dongwoon suggested when he felt Seohyun’s hesitation.

“I’m sorry Dongwoon-ssi. I can’t go out with you. I’m really sorry,” Seohyun finally said.

“Even as friends?” Dongwoon asked.

“We can be friends but I really can’t hang out with you. We’re busy with concerts and then we will go to Japan and there are really many stuff that I need to do. I’m sorry.”

“We’ll be promoting in Japan too. Maybe we can meet there,” Dongwoon said.

“I don’t think so,” Seohyun said. It looks like Dongwoon is really testing her patience. “I need to go. Uhm, my manager is calling me. Bye.”

“Ah, ok. Bye,” Dongwoon said waiting for Seohyun to hang up before him.

Seohyun released a sigh of relief after the call ended. ‘Why do these guys keep on asking her out? Why all of a sudden? Is there something that I missed?’ Seohyun thought to herself throughout the ride to her dorm.

----------
Few days later, Seohyun is still being troubled by her co singers as well as some of her classmates asking her out. She talked to her unnies about it and their advices only confused her more.

“That’s normal. They’ve been taken with you since forever and now they want to try if you want to be in a relationship,” Tiffany said shrugging her shoulders then caressing Seohyun’s hair. “They like you, Hyunnie.”

“That’s not it. They like her because she is so innocent and those guys just want to corrupt her,” Jessica countered.

“I think we’re doing fine in corrupting Hyunnie. She doesn’t need those guys. Besides, I think they want her because she’s that girl,” Yuri said.

“What girl?”

“That girl. The girl that is good at everything. Innocent but smart. Polite and charming. Beautiful without trying and to top the list, never had a boyfriend. She’s perfect, for them anyway,” Yuri answered.

“Unnie, that’s not true,” Seohyun protested.

“I think they like her for who she is,” Yoona said.

“How do they know who she is? They are not close to her, we are. They only know who she is as Seohyun of SNSD. They don’t know Seo Joohyun,” Sunny said.

“Unnie I’m not interested on why they like me. I want to know why they keep asking me out,” Seohyun said.

“That’s obvious. They know that you’re single. Now that your contract in WGM ended, it’s open season on dating you. Nothing is holding you back in having a relationship,” Jessica explained while they eat their snacks. They are in the middle of endless dance practice and now taking a short break.

“Except our management and our schedules. How can we find our future boyfriend if we’re caught up in a never ending shows and concerts?” Sooyoung said.

“Choi Sooyoung, we need to be grateful that they are giving us these opportunities. It just happens that it affects a large part of our social life,” Taeyeon reprimanded her member.

“I know that. I don’t mean it to sound like I’m not thankful because I am very thankful. It’s just getting harder these days. I’m human too, we all are, and I feel like I’m slowly getting tired,” Sooyoung explained.

“I get that. We just need to persevere. We can do this. Besides, I don’t think our schedules will stop us from having a relationship. Look at maknae, she found hers amidst full packed shows,” Tiffany said teasing Seohyun which made the others laugh and forget the serious conversation they just had.

“Imagine that! Why does the one who’s not even interested in guys found her first love and here I am shouting to the world every chance I got that I want to be in love and yet nothing,” Sooyoung said sarcastically while she smiled at Seohyun.

“That’s because you’re trying too hard. Let fate take over and we’ll see,” Sunny advised her.

“What do you know about fate? Huh?” Sooyoung countered.

“Trust me I know a lot about fate,” Sunny said.

“Don’t tell me. Are you dating somebody?” Yuri asked.

“No of course not. Why would you think that?” Sunny said denying the accusation.

“You’re the one who’s talking about fate and everything,” Yoona added.

“I’m not so stop it. We’re talking about Hyunnie here not me,” Sunny said.

“Thank you Unnie. I’m amazed that you still remember the real reason why we’re having this conversation,” Seohyun said.

“You’re being dramatic, maknae. I guess that’s the effect of spending time with Yongseobang,” Jessica said.

“No I’m not. Unnie-deul we’re talking about some important things here,” Seohyun whined.

“I don’t think there is a problem, Hyunnie. What’s happening is perfectly normal. We also experienced those kinds of things. You just need to get used to it,” Tiffany said seriously.

“But it’s so awkward and I don’t know what to say. It’s hard being polite if they’re being persistent. I don’t know how to decline without hurting their feelings,” Seohyun said.

“You just need to tell them that you’re not interested. Don’t try so hard not to hurt them because there’s no point in that. You’re not responsible in their feelings. You need to get used to saying no. Don’t think so hard about it. You just have to be firm in your decisions,” Taeyeon said.

“Unless you want to say yes,” Yuri teased her.

“Of course not. I have Yonghwa Oppa already. I don’t want anyone else,” Seohyun said.

“Aww!” her unnies cheered falling like dominoes on the floor.

“That’s so sweet!” Tiffany exclaimed.

“Guys, she said she has Yonghwa Oppa already,” Sooyoung said reiterating what Seohyun said making the other girls shout in excitement.

“She doesn’t want anyone else,” Yoona added.

“Unnie! Stop it!” Seohyun whined touching her cheeks to hide her red face.

“Uri maknae has grown up. I’m so proud of you,” Sunny said hugging Seohyun.

“Unnie, stop it,” Seohyun continue to whine trying but failing to stop her face from getting any redder.

“I’m so envious!” Sooyoung said.

“Oohh, Sooyoung needs some lovin’,” Jessica said before she hugged Sooyoung and planted a kiss on her cheek.

“Get off of me! That’s gross,” Sooyoung said pushing Jessica away.

“No way!” Jessica said clinging to Sooyoung. Then Tiffany saw them and decided to join in messing with Sooyoung. Soon the other girls join too.

Seohyun looked at her unnies having fun on her expense. She shook her head smiling before standing up.

“Where are you going?” Taeyeon asked when she noticed Seohyun stood up.

“I’ll go down to the practice room at the ground floor. I want to play the piano a little as well as think a little,” Seohyun said.

“Ok, but don’t go anywhere. Our practice will start any minute,” Taeyeon agreed.

“Ne, Unnie,” Seohyun said smiling at her leader.

“And Seohyun-ah,” Taeyeon called her.

“Ne, Unnie?”

“Think about what we said. Believe it or not but we’re serious in what we said even though it might look like we’re joking,” Taeyeon said.

“I know Unnie. Thank you very much,” Seohyun said.

“Anything for our favourite maknae,” Taeyeon said before joining the girls who are now done with Sooyoung and moved on to teasing Tiffany.

Seohyun left and went down to have some alone time. She entered the practice room and sat in front of the piano. She slowly tinkered some of the chords while her mind wander to what her unnies said to her. Getting used to saying no, looks like a good idea. Her unnies really know what to say in any situation. She’s still confused as to why those guys suddenly started showing signs of interest in her, well except Jinwoon because he’s been very vocal about his feelings towards her but the others really surprised her. She thought that saying her name as their ideal girl when they are in shows is just for entertainment purpose. She guessed wrong. Then a horrible thought crossed her mind. If she is having trouble in guys showing interest to her then what about Yonghwa Oppa. What if there are some girls who are making a move on him. Will he tell her about that? What if those girls are much better than her? Can she blame him? She’s ordinary. She’s still learning to be comfortable in the presence of the opposite sex. She has zero experience in dating. She doesn’t know how to be a proper girlfriend. She’s new to these things. Those girls are not. They might know what to do in a relationship. They can be cheerful and sweet to him. They can be comfortable enough to talk to him about everything. Yonghwa Oppa won’t need to be too careful when he is with them. He can be like his normal self. He won’t need to watch his every move. He won’t need to mind if he’s crossing some unknown barriers. Yonghwa Oppa has a lot of female idol friends, hasn’t he? What if one of those girls likes him? What will he do? What will she do?

‘Stop Seo Joohyun! You’re being paranoid,’ she scolded herself. ‘You’ll make yourself sick. Yonghwa Oppa is YOUR boyfriend. Besides, he told you that he loves you and you believe him. He won’t do that to you. Just relax.’

Her musings were interrupted when she heard someone entered the room. She looked up expecting to see one of her unnies, only to find Minho there.

“Seohyun-ah!” Minho greeted her.

“Anyong, Minho,” she greeted back.

“Good thing, I found you here. I’ve been meaning to talk to you.”

“Talk?” Seohyun asked having a bad premonition. ‘Not again. Not Minho,’ she thought.

“Yes.”

“About what?” she asked hesitantly, almost afraid of what Minho is going to say.

“Well you see, ah…listen carefully coz I have a confession to make. I-I- t-th-think…..I’m beginning to…you know… li-“

“Stop!” Seohyun said before Minho finishes what he’s saying.

“What?” Minho asked, confused as to why Seohyun didn’t let him finish.

“Just stop. I know what you’re trying to say and I’m sorry but I can’t. Not that I’m exaggerating but believe it or not, I’ve been having these ‘talks’ with some other guys and I’m done with it. I’m sorry but I don’t think I am the right person to talk about that. I don’t know what got into your head that you think that I am ready to hear your confession but I’m not and I’ll never be ready. So my answer is no. I’m sorry,” Seohyun ranted staring at Minho.

“There are other guys who asked for your help in courting Krystal too?” Minho asked surprised at Seohyun’s sudden outburst. This is the first time that he sees Seohyun getting worked up. Usually she’s so calm and collected.

“Huh? What? Courting Krystal?” Seohyun asked looking more confused than ever. “What does Krystal has to do with your confession?”

“I want to confess to her. I thought you knew already. That’s why you stopped me from talking earlier, right?” Minho asked.

“You like Krystal? As in Jung Soojung? Sica Unnie’s sister?” Seohyun clarified.

“Yes.”

“Not me?” Seohyun asked.

“You? Of course not. I mean I like you as a friend only,” Minho said vehemently. “Do you like me?” Minho asked on second thought.

“What? No, of course not. I thought you’re confessing to me.”

“No I’m not. I’m asking you if you can help me tell Krystal what I feel. Maybe you can ask for some advice from Sica Noona.”

“Ah, ok. I get it. Sure I can help. I’ll ask Sica Unnie later,” Seohyun agreed, releasing a sigh of relief.

“Thanks but why would you think that I am confessing to you?” Minho asked, remembering what she said earlier.

“It’s complicated.”

“I get it. You said that you’ve been having some ‘talks’. Who confessed to you? Can you tell me?” Minho asked excited at the sudden news.

“No I can’t. That’s private.”

“Did you accept someone? Are you dating now?”

“That’s none of your business. Do you want my help or not?” Seohyun asked changing the topic.

“Of course I want it. Help me,” Minho said cutely begging Seohyun with each of his palms rubbing the other in front of his face.

“Fine, I’ll help you,” Seohyun relented.

“Thanks Seohyun. You’re the best. I owe you one,” Minho said thanking Seohyun.

Hyoyeon entered the room to find Seohyun and Minho talking seriously. She frowned because Taeyeon didn’t say that Minho is with Seohyun.

“Hey guys,” Hyoyeon greeted the two.

“Oh Unnie, you’re back. Did you buy all that snacks?” Seohyun asked when she saw the food that Hyoyeon is carrying. “You should have let me come with you.”

“That’s fine. What are you two doing here?” Hyoyeon asked.

“I’m just asking Seohyun something, Noona,” Minho answered. Hyoyeon’s eyes suddenly got big when she realized the situation to which she entered with.

“Let me guess, you’ve said some confession or something?” Hyoyeon asked.

“Oh, how did you know?” Minho asked surprised at what Hyoyeon said.

Hyoyeon suddenly bursts into laughter. “Oh my God, don’t tell me? Not you too,” Hyoyeon said laughing hysterically.

“Unnie, what are you saying?” Seohyun asked, worried about what’s happening to Hyoyeon.

“Noona, you’re scaring me,” Minho added.

“What I’m saying is that I never thought of you as one of Seohyun’s fan boys. I always thought that you like Krystal,” Hyoyeon said when she finally relaxed.

“I do. I like Krystal,” Minho admitted.

“Then what are you doing here confessing to Seohyun?” Hyoyeon asked, confused as to what Minho is saying.

“I asked Seohyun if she can help me tell Krystal what I’m feeling,” Minho explained.

“Oh, I thought you declaring your undying love to Seohyun too. Just like the others,” Hyoyeon said.

“No I’m not. Seohyun is my friend just like you Noona,” Minho clarified. “By the way, how did you know that I like Krystal?”

“Ah, that, it’s obvious. You always dote on her and your eyes follow her every move whenever you’re in a room together.”

“Am I that obvious?”

“Slight of,” Hyoyeon said smiling at her dongsaeng.

“You said that others confessed to Seohyun. Can you tell me who are they?”

“Well, there’s Jin-“

“Unnie! I told Minho that it is none of business. Don’t you think we need to get back to our practice? Taeyeon Unnie must be looking for us,” Seohyun said interrupting Hyoyeon.

“Right, Taenggo texted me when I was in the store to stop by here to get you. Let’s go. The girls must be looking for us,” Hyoyeon said.

“Hey, Noona you haven’t finished what you’re saying,” Minho complained.

“Ask Seohyun,” Hyoyeon said, giving some of the bags of snacks to Seohyun.

“She won’t tell me,” Minho said.

“Tough luck. Try again next time,” Hyoyeon suggested. The two of them already at the door.

“Noona!” Minho called.

“See you later, Choi Minho,” Seohyun said waving at him before she steer Hyoyeon away from him.

------------------
Seohyun entered Yonghwa’s apartment, THEIR apartment. Thinking about this place makes her feel giddy and causes the butterflies in her stomach to fly. She remembered the look on Yonghwa’s face when he gave her, her own set of keys, his intense gaze when he told her that she can come whenever she wants and her very own happiness when Yonghwa mentioned that he had it named for him and her, making this apartment theirs.  She still can’t believe that they have a place of their own and that Yonghwa prepared it with thoughts of staying with her. How fortunate is she to have Yonghwa as her boyfriend.

They agreed to meet at their apartment after all their schedules are finished. For Seohyun, she only needed to attend all her recordings and dance rehearsals but for Yonghwa, it is a different story. After all, he is in the midst of promoting his first album in Korea. Seohyun arrived first and proceeded to prepare a late dinner for the two of them. Upon looking at the interior of the house, she can’t help but feel a sense of familiarity. Yonghwa did his best to make their new apartment the same with their old house in Sangdo-dong. Yonghwa knew how Seohyun loved that house so he tried to make the new one almost the same as the old one.  Now, it is Seohyun’s turn to show him how grateful she is to him. She decided to cook him some of her learned dishes. She entered the kitchen and started to prepare all of what she needs.

A while later, the door opened and Yonghwa entered their apartment. He immediately went straight to the kitchen upon smelling the food that Seohyun is preparing. He stealthily walked behind her and suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist earning a shriek of surprise from Seohyun.

“Oppa!”  Seohyun shouted when she turned and saw Yonghwa grinning at her.

“Annyeong, Joohyun-ah,” Yonghwa said before giving her a chaste kiss on her lips.

“You scared me,” Seohyun said squirming away from Yonghwa. She tried to release herself from his grip on her waist but to no avail.

“I just want to surprise you. I’m sorry.”

“Ah cham! You’re such a choding.” Seohyun turned around to continue cooking while Yonghwa back hugged her. He rests his head on her shoulders while he peers at what she is making.

“It smells delicious. Is that kimchi stew?”

“Yes. My mom gave us some kimchi and some other side dishes in the dorm so I brought some here with me.”

“You shouldn’t have. That is for you and your sisters.”

“We have more than enough besides you said that this is my house too right? So I can bring anything I want in our home. Am I correct?” Seohyun asked with overflowing of aegyo to make sure that Yonghwa won’t say no.

Yonghwa smiled hearing Seohyun say ‘our home’. He can’t explain it but it gives him a thrill to see her claim his home hers too. “Of course this is your home too. You can bring anything you want.”

“Done!” Seohyun said looking at her dish. “Oppa, can you help me set the table?”

“Sure. Anything you want,” Yonghwa said kissing her cheeks before he went to get some plates and cups.

“How is your voice Oppa? Aren’t you getting sick? You’ve been doing so many events these past few days,” Seohyun said. Worry is evident in her voice seeing Yonghwa’s tired face.

“Wow! This is really delicious Hyun,” Yonghwa said when he started to eat Seohyun’s dish.

“Oppa don’t  change the subject.”

“Ahrasso Hyun. I’m fine. Don’t worry too much. I’m taking care of myself. You’re the one who I should be worrying. You’ve been going back and forth to Japan and here. It must be wearing you out,” Yonghwa said reaching out to touch Seohyun’s cheeks.

“Don’t worry Oppa. You know me, I’m very good at taking care of my health,” Seohyun said assuring Yonghwa.

They continued eating after that. “This is really delicious,” Yonghwa said a while later.

“Really?”

“Yes. Your cooking skills are improving. Daebak!” Yonghwa said giving a two thumbs up.

“Thank you. I’ll cook some more in the future.  What do you want to eat next? I’ll make it for you,” Seohyun offered while smiling at him brightly. She is really happy seeing Yonghwa eats the food that she made.

“Anything. I’ll eat any food that you make. Just don’t cook for someone else. Only for me?”

“Ah cham. Oppa of course I can cook for anyone.”

“Why? Just cook for me.”

“What about my unnies and my parents?”

“Fine, you can cook for them but more for me, ok?”

“Ahrasso,” Seohyun conceded, feeding Yonghwa.

“Ah, don’t cook for some other guy. I’ll be angry if you do that. I want to be the only guy that you will cook for, except maybe your dad,” Yonghwa said.

“Ah jeongmal! You have so many demands,” Seohyun said.

“Promise me,” Yonghwa insisted.

“Ahrasso, ahrasso. Just eat,” Seohyun said while she fed him in order for him to stop talking. Yonghwa gladly ate all of it.

At the other side of Seoul, Choi Hongchul walked the corridors of MPY building. He used to think that being the secretary of the director of the Planning Department is the best job there is but lately he is beginning to second guess this. It all started with the director’s sudden interest in the daughter of the CEO.

He entered Director Park’s office and saw him hunched over his desk reading some reports.

“Director?”

“Oh, Mr. Choi. Come in,” Director Park said motioning for him to come closer. “What’s up?”

“Well, I looked into what you’ve asked me to do. Apparently MPY evaluations for the artists’ endorsement are being held in closed doors. I’ve asked some people and they all said that Director Min and her assistant, Kim Yoonshik, are the one who is doing the evaluation. No one can tell the process of evaluations.”

“Really? What about the Board of Directors? Surely they must know,” Director Park asked, his eyebrows crossing due to irritation.

“They too, are not saying anything. They said that only Director Min has the power to divulge that information. All they can say is that they fully support Director Min’s way of handling the evaluation and that they are quite thankful because it helps the company to really screen those artists. Now, according to our company’s statistics, we’ve encountered little problems from the new endorsed artists.”

“Did you look into those who took the screening tests? Those who passed? Those who failed?”

“Yes. I’ve asked those artists that passed but they don’t know too. Their company is not talking either. Also, it is taking a lot of time looking into those who failed because no one is brave enough to admit into failing the evaluation.”

“Min Ara really knows how to erase her traces. I’m sure we’ll find out about it. Continue looking into it.”

“Ne, Director Park.”

“Ah, also monitor Min Ara’s moves. Do it secretly. I don’t want her to get a wind of what I’m up to. Did you find out about that mishap in our system? The one where Min Ara used an unauthorized user to track Seohyun-ssi’s phone?”

“Ne, it seems that Director Min is really doing a maintenance test that day. I asked my friend in the IT Department and he said that there really is no report about the output of that search. Our system erased it completely for security purposes.”

“There is no method to retrieve it?”

“There is none, Sir. I think that it will be harder to look into it because Director Min updated the system.”

“I really don’t think that she’s doing a maintenance test that day. It is so unusual for her. Did you look into Seohyun-ssi’s whereabouts that day?”

“According to her schedule, Seohyun is in their dorm that morning. Then she left to visit her parents. She spent the whole day there. Later in the evening, she returned to the dorm to get ready for their flight to Japan.”

“I see. Get some people to monitor all of SM artists’ activities.  If we want to get Min Ara, we need to watch the people who are closest to her. Min Ara is so upright and rule abiding but above all else, she is most loyal and protective of the people she holds dear in her heart. If we want to expose her, we need to go through her loved ones and that is SM artists. I’m sure we’ll find something.”

“Director?”

“Yes?”

“If I may ask, aren’t you getting ahead of yourself? Director Min is the daughter of the CEO. There is no point in antagonizing her because at the end of the day, she is still our boss.”

“Min Ara as well as the two heirs doesn’t belong here. Making them the directors of the three main branches of MPY here in Korea is absurd. They should return to New York. Their rightful place is in the main office there. We don’t need them here. We can function well without them. I don’t understand why the CEO’s assigned them here.”

“I see. I’ll get going Director Park,” Choi Hongchul said agreeing for now. He can’t exactly disagree to that because it might cost him his job.

“Yes, you may go. Remember what I said, do all of this discreetly.”

“Ne. Good evening Director,” Choi Hongchul said before leaving the office.

When his secretary left, Director Park stood up and went to look at the scenery outside his office. He can see all of Seoul just standing there in his floor to ceiling windows.

“Just you wait Min Ara. I’ll make you regret the day you accepted being the director of Min Branch. I’ll let you see that being the daughter of the owner can’t be all that great. You should have just stayed in New York. You should have not taken my promotion. I will make you go back to where you came from.” Director Park vowed to himself. He will take control and sooner or later, he will be the one calling the shots in this company.

Author's Note:

hey guys! i'm back with another chapter. hope you like this one. just like always, i welcome all comments, suggestions, reviews, reactions, as well as criticisms. i want to hear from you. even as simple as 'hey what's up, i'm reading your story.' just to let me know those who i should be thankful for waiting in my irregular updates.
as i am writing this chapter, i realized that i want to change my first choice in how i like this story to end and i decided to make this story open ended. meaning that i will continue to write this story as long as i am enjoying following YongSeo. besides, seeing that this story comprises of behind the scenes with a little AU in it, i think that i can keep this up maybe until YongSeo announced their relationship in public and maybe even after that. that just shows how much i like those two and how much i want them to end up together in real life. after all, my initial ending was making YongSeo reveal their secret relationship so i guess i'll be doing this until then. what do you think? do you agree? or do you disagree? tell me what you think.

i'm having fun writing this story even though i can only do it in my spare time. especially now with all the hints and YongSeo interactions that happened these past few months. i'm doing my best to finish writing the rest of my take on what happen in year 2011 so that i can be on track in YongSeo interactions this year. i found my inspiration as well as my drive to write more because of those little things that Yonghwa and Seohyun did. i miss them so much and i really wish to see them together. in a movie, a drama or even a music video or a CF or another duet. i think even seeing them standing together will make me into spazz mode. anything as long as they are together. lol

i hope i didn't bore you guys with my nonsensical rumblings here in my author's note. and i hope that you are still enjoying reading this story. cheers chingoo! till next time, xoxo  ;p

ah, to those who have a twitter account, follow me @dashling_ice i want to spazz with you guys. i want to talk to other gogumas too. hehehe. so that's it, till next time. xoxo (again) :)

Author's Note: this is a one shot fic which is related to my chaptered fic titled, The Price of Fame. This story happens right after chapter 5 and before chapter 6 (in which I haven't finished yet solely bcoz of this one shot that keeps on distracting me. this one shot has a mind of its own and won't stop unless i write it). I originally planned on making these solely into Soshi members POV but i can't help but add a few YongSeo moments in it. They are just to cute not to write. This can be read separately but if you want more, you can always try to check on my chaptered fic, The Price of Fame. Hope you like it and enjoy!! BTW, I could use some reviews and constructive critisisms. ;)

The Morning After

Hyoyeon woke up to the annoying sound of a blender being used. She took her phone out under her pillow to check the time. ‘6 am. The sun isn’t up yet,’ she thought, grumbling and rolling on her bed while trying to get some more sleep. The sound of the blender stop but the one in the kitchen must have no consideration to others who are sleeping because then every kitchen utensil that she is using clatter to life making Hyoyeon annoyed more than ever. She got up and decided to give a good scolding to the one in the kitchen.

“Why did I choose a room so close to the kitchen?” Hyoyeon asked herself while she walked out of her room and into the kitchen. There she saw Yuri drinking her morning nutrition shake looking like she’s having the time of her life.

“Oh! You’re up early,” Yuri greeted her. “Do you want some?”

“Do I want some? You’re asking me if I want some of your drink. Let me tell you what I want. I want to have a much deserved sleep because I’ve been tired like hell but apparently you decided that you want to get up early and make a ruckus in our kitchen. I want to sleep more. That’s what I want but I can’t do that with you making noise everywhere you went,” Hyoyeon ranted.

Yuri rolled her eyes seeing Hyoyeon being overly dramatic. “You could have beat Fany for over reacting, you know.”

“Kwon Yuri!”

“Fine, I’m sorry. I didn’t know I’m disturbing your ‘much deserved sleep’. You can sleep some more I’ll be quiet,” Yuri said smiling sweetly at her.

“Acting cute won’t do it. You owe me and I will make you pay,” Hyoyeon said before going back to her room. When she opened the door that’s when she noticed something strange. The bed beside her is empty and it looks like the occupant didn’t use it last night. “No way,” Hyoyeon mumbles. She went back to the kitchen but Yuri is not there. She must have gone back to her room or something. She went to Yuri’s room unannounced.

“What? I already said I’m sorry,” Yuri said when she saw Hyoyeon standing at the door.

“That’s not why I’m here. Who else is up already?”

“No one else. I woke up early and make my morning shake just like always.”

“You don’t find it strange that you’re the one who woke up early? Not someone else?”

“Where’s Hyunnie?” Yuri asked when she understood what Hyoyeon is getting at.

“I don’t know. Her bed is empty. It looks like she didn’t sleep on it.”

“No way!” Yuri said a little louder making Yoona, her roommate woke up.

“What happen?” Yoona asked while she rubs her eyes and checks her phone for the time.

“Seohyun didn’t come home last night,” Hyoyeon told her before she sat on the edge of Yuri’s bed.

“She’s here last night. I saw her,” Yoona said.

“What time did you last saw her?” Yuri asked her.

“A little before 8pm. I saw her before I went to my other schedule.”

“She left after you. She said she’s meeting Yonghwa,” Hyoyeon said, remembering her conversation with Seohyun last night.

“And she hasn’t come back?”

“I didn’t see her come back.”

“Let’s call her,” Yuri suggested. Yoona took her phone out and called Seohyun.

“Her phone is off,” Yoona said after calling twice.

“This is bad,” Yuri said.

“Very bad,” Hyoyeon agreed. “Do any of us have Yonghwa’s number or something?”

“I don’t know. Do you want me to wake the others?” Yuri asked.

“What are you three doing there?” The three of them jumped up when they heard someone called them.

“Unnie, we have a problem,” Yoona said.

“What are you talking about?” Taeyeon said before she fully entered the room and sat on Yoona’s bed.

“Seohyun didn’t come home last night. Her phone is also off,” Yuri said.

“What?” Taeyeon asked again.

“You heard it. Seohyun didn’t come home,” Hyoyeon said.

“She told me she’s meeting Yonghwa last night. She didn’t say that she’s spending the night,” Taeyeon said. “Do you have Yonghwa’s number?” The three shook their heads.

“We can’t contact her,” Yoona said, obviously worried.

“Let’s go to the living room. Wake the others. We all need to talk,” Taeyeon said. They all stand up and went to wake the other members. One by one, the members gather in the living room all looking half asleep and still dreaming.

“Unnie, I’m not a member. Why did you wake me up?” Ara said before she sits in the couch and put her head in Sooyoung’s shoulder.

“I told you it’s important,” Taeyeon said.

“It better be important, Kim Taeyeon,” Jessica said appearing in the living room with Yoona pulling her along.

“It’s more important than your sleep Unnie,” Yoona said putting Jessica in between Ara and Sooyoung.

“What happen, Taengoo?” Sunny asked first. She’s always the one who gets to the point. Taeyeon told them what happen and seeing the others reaction, it looks like they are all woken up by the news. And the endless question started.

“Why can’t we contact her?”

“Did she tell where they will meet?”

“What time did she leave yesterday?”

“Do you think something happen to her?”

“What is Yonghwa’s phone number?”

“Should we tell our managers?”

“Can we call CNBlue’s manager?

“Maybe FNC can help.”

“Oh my God! What if something happen to the two of them?”

“Did you call her parents?”

“Enough!” Taeyeon shouted amidst the noise. When all the girls stop talking, she continued explaining what they need to do. “We can’t tell our manager. We’re not sure what happen but if she just ended up staying in Yonghwa’s dorm and our manager found out, we’ll be in trouble. We need to make sure where she is before we take action. Do any of you have Yonghwa’s number or CNBlue’s number. Anything?”

“We can’t call their dorm. Their manager lives there too. We need to call Yonghwa himself,” Sunny said.

“I have his number. I also have his manager’s number as well as their phone number in their dorm,” Ara said before she got up and took her hand phone from her room. She returned to the living room already calling Yonghwa’s phone. “His phone is turned off too,” Ara said sitting again.

“Why do you have his contact number?” Yuri asked her.

“It’s in my files. He’s under evaluation for MPY endorsement, remember?” Ara answered her.

“What should we do?” Fany asked.

“Can we call their manager?” Sooyoung asked Taeyeon.

“We don’t need to raise suspicion. If we call their manager and they aren’t there, it will just blow out,” Jessica said.

“But what if something happens to them?” Yuri asked the girls.

“Don’t think like that. We need to stay positive,” Yoona said, wringing both of her hands due to nervousness.

“Besides if something happens, it will be in the news and we haven’t heard any,” Sooyoung added.

“I really don’t want to do this but they left me no choice,” Ara said which earned her confused looks towards her. “What?” she asked.

“Explain. Now,” Hyoyeon said.

“Fine, I can look if Seohyun is in Yonghwa’s dorm but I need it to be me only.”

“You need to explain better than that Min Ara,” Hyoyeon said.

“I can’t tell you how. I can only tell you if she is there after I look.”

“And how will you look without them knowing? You can’t just barge in their dorm like that,” Taeyeon asked.

“Well I won’t need to go to their dorm. It’s hard to explain. Can you give me five minutes alone?”

“Not without telling us what you will do first,” Sunny said.

“Unnie, I can’t. I’m bound by my company’s rule.”

“What’s more important? Us or your company?” Hyoyeon asked Ara.

“Aw! That’s harsh. I can’t believe you’re making me choose,” Ara said looking down.

“You’re the director. You made those rules. Surely you can break it or change it. We know how you are with the words and promises that you gave but we’re talking about Seohyun here. It’s our maknae on the line here, Ara,” Taeyeon said slowly convincing Ara to open up.

“Alright but if I tell you, you need to promise that you won’t say a thing about this to anyone. I mean anyone. I don’t care how close you are to them but this thing; you need to keep this to yourselves. It’s a delicate matter and it involves MPY secrets. Only I and Yoonshik Oppa know. That’s how serious it is,” Ara explained.

“We promise. Right girls?” Taeyeon said and a chorus of “Yes” was heard throughout the living room.

“Ok. First I need to tell you that I will explain AFTER we find Seohyun. I will answer all of your questions after we see that Seohyun is safe. Understand?” When all of the girls nodded, Ara stood up from the couch. “Let me get my things first.”

The girls waited for Ara to get back. All of them are having mixed emotions. Some are confused. Some are worried. Others are nervous. All of them look when Ara got back and sat on the floor and started to set up her laptop and some gadgets on the table. No one asked questions while they waited for the laptop to open and what they saw shocked them into more silence.

“I know this is weird in some way. You remember that CNBlue is under MPY evaluations. Well, this is one of the methods of evaluating them if they deserve to be endorsed by the company,” Ara explained while the girls look at the screen. They can see each and every spot of CNBlue’s dorm. Hidden cameras are everywhere and there seems to be no blind spot. Every corner is being watched. The boys’ move is being recorded and they don’t even know it. Ara scanned all of the cameras and lastly checked what appears to be Yonghwa’s room. It’s empty. “They are not there. Let me checked what time Yonghwa left their dorm,” Ara said while she rewind the recorded videos. “There! According to the videos Yonghwa left their dorm at exactly 10:38 pm. He left the vicinity of their building at 10:42 pm. Wait, I’ll get his plate number and run a search to see where he has been since last night but that will take some time. I will also run a search on Seohyun’s phone and see when and where her phone is before it turned off. That will also take some time.” Ara is typing and doing the work while she explains what she’s doing to the girls.

“How will you do that?” Sunny asked clearly impressed but confused as well.

“I’ll connect to the satellites and then run a search in all of the CCTV’s recording and see if it recorded Yonghwa’s car. I’ll narrow the search by inputting some variables like time, places and other things. As for Seohyun’s phone, I’ll use the tracking system to check the logs as well as the signal that the microchips emitted by her phone to locate her,” Ara answered still doing the search. An error flashed on the screen saying that the search is being stopped and all of the output will be deleted which makes the girls rounded up on the laptop.

“What’s happening?” Taeyeon asked.

“Crap! I forgot to log in into my authorized account. I need to do it again.” Ara finished putting all of she needs and now all they need to do is wait until the search is finished with the result.

“What the hell is that?” Hyoyeon asked pointing at Ara’s laptop and gadgets.

“What do you mean by ‘one of the methods you use to evaluate’?” Jessica also asked her.

“You explain everything now while we wait,” Sooyoung ordered.

“I changed the process in screening those who wants to be endorsed by MPY. As you all know, 60% character, 40 % talent is the criteria but that’s not it. We monitor the activities of the artists and all of their shows to see if they fit the talent criteria. As for the character criteria, they are being watched 24/7. All of their habits, attitude outside the cameras and their overall personality is being recorded. This is to make sure that they have what it takes to be endorsed by MPY. Character is very important so we check each and everyone of them. Their character will show if they will be successful or if they have a tendency to create a scandal or problems which will ruin MPY reputations. We are very picky when it comes to who we endorse so I developed this system and the board already agreed to this,” Ara explained.

“Who else is watching these videos?” Taeyeon asked.

“Just me and Yoonshik Oppa. Yoonshik Oppa monitors the boy groups and I monitor the girl groups. At the end of the day, we both will write our observations together with the proof. We consult with the best psychologist to explain to us the reason of their actions. Sometimes, when something disturbing or interesting happen, we let the psychologist watch it to explain to us further. Together with the psychologist’s observation as well as mine and Yoonshik Oppa’s, we grade them and we evaluate if they pass the character criteria.”

“That’s disturbing. You watch each and every move they make? What do you do when they are taking a bath or changing clothes?” Yuri asked.

“Of course that’s not included Unnie. Bathrooms are not included in the hidden cameras. Plus, we make sure that their privacy is not invaded. After the evaluation, these videos are being transferred somewhere safe where no one can find it except for me. Their management agreed to these conditions when they pass the resumes of their artists. Their management knows what is happening. We also explain in further detail to their management the reasons why they passed or they failed together with the videos that serve as proofs. That is the main reason why no one is filing for unjust results regarding our evaluations.”

“What happens when they go outside? Are they still being monitored?” Jessica asked.

“Yes, through the use of CCTVs and tracking devices. All of their activities are being watched. It really is easier to know who is real and who is just acting when they don’t know that they are being watched. In that way, we can pick who is the most deserving to be endorsed.”

“Did you do that to us?” Sunny asked.

“No, SM artists are what we called on-site evaluation. During training periods, how you interact with your co-trainees and how you perform as well as how you accept failures, rejections and success are the factors in which we evaluate. You know that SM trainees can only debut if they pass the MPY endorsement right?”

“So you did that evaluation to us?” Hyoyeon asked.

“Not entirely. I told you I changed the rules when I become a director. The rules are changed in 2009. That time, you already debuted.”

“So how did they evaluate us and those who passed?” Yoona asked.

“Through the use of the old screening process. My dad designed that. They will see if a particular artist has what it takes and then they will arrange a meeting with the artist’s management. They will ask if they want that artist to be endorsed then if they agree, they will sign a contract. That process is 100 % talent oriented.”

“Why did you change it?” Taeyeon asked her.

“Because of the scandals. MPY’s reputation is being dragged down by those we endorse whenever they make a mess. I don’t want that to continue so I changed the system. I can’t change the results and I can’t stop the endorsement of those who already passed but I can control those who want to be endorsed by us now. I don’t want to make the same mistake that the previous directors made.”

Their talk is interrupted by the beeping sound from the laptop announcing the result from the search.

“They are in an apartment complex in Hongdae. Both the tracking system as well as the CCTV recording shows the same result. Let me check what floor,” Ara said reading the result in the screen and rewinding the recorded videos.

“There! That’s Yonghwa but why is he carrying Seohyun?” Yoona said watching the videos from the CCTV in the elevator.

“Let’s see,” Ara said screening the videos. “It looks like she’s asleep or unconscious. Let’s check which floor they will go. 22th floor. Room 2208. I’ll look at the database to see who owns the apartment.” Ara continued to do the search while the girls watch the videos from the CCTV in the hallway outside Yonghwa’s apartment.

“She moves. She’s awake now,” Hyoyeon said looking at the video.

“You’re right so I guess we can rule out kidnapping,” Jessica said.

“Jessica!”

“What? I’m just being truthful,” Jessica said.

“The owner of the apartment is Jung Yonghwa. He bought it last month,” Ara said reading the result. “Wow! So he bought an apartment and according to this, Seo Joohyun also owns it.”

“He bought them an apartment! That’s sweet,” Sooyoung said.

“What? Are they planning on living together?” Yuri asked.

“I don’t know,” Ara answered. “According to the videos, until now they haven’t gone outside of that apartment. So it means that they are still there. The tracking device also points to that apartment. So Seohyun is there as well as Yonghwa. We found them.”

“Now what do we do?” Yoona asked Taeyeon.

“We wait. Ara, can you switch to the live stream of the CCTV. While we wait, try to contact Seohyun again,” Taeyeon ordered the girls.

“Her phone is still turned off,” Yoona said.

“Same as Yonghwa Oppa’s phone,” Ara said.

“I can’t believe that they slept together. They’ve been together for only weeks,” Sooyoung said.

“We’re not sure if they slept together. We didn’t see it,” Sunny said before sitting on the couch.

“And what do you think they did in there? Read books?” Jessica retorted.

“I’m hungry. Let’s talk about them after we have a breakfast. I think they are still sleeping there,” Sooyoung said.

“I can’t believe Seohyun is still asleep there,” Yuri said.

“How sure are you that she’s still asleep?” Ara asked them.

“If she’s awake, she might have noticed that her phone is turned off. I’m sure she’ll turn it on and contact one of us but since we still can’t contact her. It’s safe to assume that she’s still sleeping,” Taeyeon said.

“Yonghwa must have tired her out last night,” Hyoyeon suggested.

“Unnie!”

“Kim Hyoyeon!”

“What?” Hyoyeon asked the girls before they all laugh out loud.

“I’ll keep watch. Hyoyeon, Sunny can you please prepare some breakfast. Yuri and Yoona can help. As for the others you can go wash up or something,” Taeyeon said and the girls all stood up and went to do what Taeyeon said.

-----------------
Seohyun woke up to the sunshine rays that manage to get inside the room through the curtains. The moment she opened her eyes, she realized that something is different. The light coming from the sun should be above her head not on her side. ‘Since when did the windows move?’ she thought to herself before she felt something move beside her. Her instinct told her to scream when she felt someone hugging her and breathing on her neck but when she stopped and look closely, she realized that it’s just Yonghwa Oppa. Then all of what happen last night came back to her. Yonghwa surprising her. Yonghwa buying this apartment. Yonghwa asking her to stay and visits whenever she wants to. Yonghwa giving her own set of keys. Yonghwa kissing her and taking her to bed. Yonghwa sleeping beside her while holding her close to him. She remembered every little detail of what happen last night and thinking about it makes her smile giddily. She turns to her side to face the sleeping Yonghwa. Seeing him up close, she can see each and every part of his handsome face. It’s true that he’s not the most handsome celebrity that she knows. She grew up with some of them after all but seeing Yonghwa makes her heart flutter and her stomach fill with flying butterflies in which she hadn’t experience when she’s with her SM Oppas or other celebrities who is much better-looking than him. Only Yonghwa can take her breathe away and leave her dizzy with happiness and giddiness. In fact, lying here facing him is making her head feels empty and all she can do is look at him. She thinks that if given a chance, she would gladly spend all of her time staring at Yonghwa’s face. She slowly lifts her hand to lightly touch his face and trace his features. She runs her hands on his fringe then down in his forehead. She lightly traces his eyebrows then his eyelids before running his fingers on his nose. She smiles when Yonghwa crunches his face and frown before returning to sleep. She places her thumb on his cheeks then slowly descends towards his lips. She runs her index finger on his lower lip, remembering how Yonghwa kissed him and what his lips tastes like on her own.

“What are you doing?” Yonghwa mumbles before opening his eyes and looking straight at her.

“Nothing,” Seohyun said, turning and lying on her back. Yonghwa pulled her closer and rests his arms around her waist.

“You’re lying. You’re staring at my face thinking, ‘How did I get a boyfriend as handsome as him?’ right?”

“You’re over indulging yourself Oppa,” Seohyun said giggling at what Yonghwa said.

“No I’m not. I’m not the one who got caught staring and tracing my face while I’m asleep,” Yonghwa said before planting some small kisses on her neck and smelling her hair.

“Ah cham!”

Yonghwa laughed and hugged her closer. “I love you. I love waking up next to you,” Yonghwa said.

“Me too, Oppa. I wish we can be like this everyday.”

“Just wait for a while longer, Hyun. After we become stable in our jobs and when everything is in its right place, we’ll still be together and we will be able to do this for as long as we want.”

“Promise, Oppa?”

“I promise. You know that I always keep my promises, right?”

“I know,” Seohyun answered before she turn and face him. Yonghwa hugged her and settled her right under his chin. His arms encircling her tiny waist and his head leaning on the top of her head, smelling her shampoo, a combination of vanilla and lavender. They stayed like that for a long while; both enjoying each other’s company.

“What time is it?” Seohyun asked.

“I don’t know. Let’s sleep some more,” Yonghwa said hugging Seohyun closer.

Seohyun got up and took her phone on the bedside table. “Oppa, do you have a charger? I need to charge my phone.” Yonghwa also grudgingly sat up. He took his phone and seeing that it is also turned off, he opened his side drawer to take out his charger. “Here, use this.” He gave it to Seohyun and took another one to use it on his phone.

“Oh my God!” Seohyun said when she saw how many calls she missed. All came from her sisters. “Unnie-deul are gonna kill me.”

“What?” Yonghwa asked after checking his missed calls too. “Someone keep on calling me. Do you know whose number is this?” Yonghwa asked letting Seohyun see his missed calls.

“That’s Ara Unnie’s number. I forgot to call them last night. They must be worried sick,” Seohyun said.

“Then call them now. Tell them you’re with me. Will I drive you to your dorm or to your parents?”

“To my parents’ house I guess. They are expecting me early.”

“Alright. Call your sisters and tell them you’re fine and that you’ll be going to your parents’ house. I’ll just go wash up and make us some breakfast,” Yonghwa said giving Seohyun a chaste kiss on her lips before he stood up and went straight to the bathroom.

---------
Meanwhile at the Soshi’s dorm, the girls are eating their breakfast and planning what to do with their day off when they heard Taeyeon’s phone ringing.

“Who’s that?” Sunny asked.

“Is that manager Oppa?” Sooyoung seconded.

“Do you think he knows Seohyun is not here?” Jessica, the forever pessimistic asked.

“Relax, it’s Seohyun,” Taeyeon replied.

“Put it in speaker phone,” Hyoyeon ordered.

“Alright,” Taeyeon said before answering her phone. “Seo Joohyun! What do you think you’re doing? You didn’t come home. You didn’t call and you spend the night with Yonghwa alone in some apartment that we don’t know. What if something happens to you or what if someone saw you two there? Did you think about that? How can you be so careless?” Taeyeon rant on the other line.

“Unnie, I’m sorry. I forgot to call and my phone lost its battery,” Seohyun answered on the other line.

“Joohyun-ah, why didn’t you say that you’re spending the night with Yonghwa? We’ve been worried,” Hyoyeon said.

“I’m sorry, Unnie but it skipped my mind. I didn’t exactly plan to spend the night here. Anyway, how did you know I’m with Yonghwa Oppa and that we’re alone?”

“Then who will we think you’re with? Jinwoon? Of course it’s Yonghwa,” Jessica sarcastically said.

“We know where you are exactly and it’s not in Yonghwa’s dorm. You have a lot of explaining to do once you got home,” Sunny said.

“I can’t believe you slept together! That’s so romantic,” Tiffany added.

“No,no,no. Nothing happened, Unnie,” Seohyun cringed when she heard the teasing her Unnies are giving her.

“Nothing happened?” Tiffany asked.

“Hwang Miyoung, that’s not important right now,” Taeyeon said stopping Tiffany’s tirade of questions.

“He’s so sweet. So how’s his apartment?” Sooyoung asked.

“Choi Sooyoung, that’s also not what we’re supposed to be talking about,” Taeyeon said too exasperated with her members to shout at them anymore.

“How did you know that we’re in his apartment?” Seohyun asked.

“We used Ara’s program in her laptop. It’s a lot to explain right now. When will you be home?” Taeyeon asked.

“Uhm, later I think. I’ll be going straight to my parents’ house. They are expecting me there.”

“How will you get there? How about your change of clothes?” Taeyeon asked.

“You sound like her mother,” Hyoyeon said. “Hey, Hyunnie, we finally know how Ara does her evaluation regarding the MPY endorsement. It’s really cool. You should have seen it,” Hyoyeon interrupted Taeyeon’s questioning.

“Well, technically, if you didn’t suddenly disappear and decided to spend the night to God knows where, they wouldn’t know it,” Ara said.

“Really, Unnie. Tell me all about it later, ok?” Seohyun said.

“Ok,” Ara replied.

“Seo Joohyun, I’m not yet finished with you. Will Yonghwa drive you to your parents?” Taeyeon asked.

“Ne, Unnie. As for my clothes, Yonghwa Oppa bought some for me. I’ll tell you all about it later. I’m really sorry that I forgot to call, Unnie. It won’t happen again,” Seohyun said pacifying her oldest Unnie.

“It better be. I expect you to come home early. We have an early flight tomorrow. I hope you didn’t forget all about it?” Taeyeon said.

“Of course not, Unnie. So, I’ll talk to you later?” Seohyun said.

“Yeah, I guess. Take care and be careful. Make sure no one will recognize the two of you,” Taeyeon advised her maknae.

“Yes, thanks Unnie. Bye Unnie-deul, we’ll talk later,” Seohyun said. Choruses of “Byes” are heard before Taeyeon disconnected the call.

“So, she’s fine I guess,” Yuri said after a moment of silence.

“She’s more than fine. She sounds happy,” Yoona said.

“Let her be. Let her enjoy the joys of first love and all that sweet things that comes with it,” Tiffany said.

“Yonghwa’s good for her. Don’t worry too much, Taeyeon,” Sunny said, wrapping her arms around Taeyeon’s shoulder and leading her to the kitchen.

“You haven’t eaten Unnie. Here, have some fruits and cereals,” Ara offered.

“Thanks,” Taeyeon said. “She really is alright, right?” Taeyeon asked her.

“100% sure. Don’t worry,” Ara said. All the other girls get ready to start their day. Now that they know that their maknae is safe and fine, they can finally enjoy their much deserved rest.

“I think I’ll go home. I haven’t seen my mom in ages,” Hyoyeon said.

“Me too. My Unnie keeps on asking me to go shopping or something. I think she wants some bonding time before we go to Japan,” Sooyoung said.

“How about you Taeyeon Unnie? Do you want me to get someone to drive you to and fro your parents’ house?” Ara offered.

“Nah, I guess I’ll just stay here in the dorm and sleep some more.”

“That’s boring. Don’t worry Ara. I’ll drag Taeyeon away from her room and into shopping malls today,” Tiffany said.

“I’ll come with you,” Yoona said.

“I’ll check on Krystal first then can I join you in your shopping?” Jessica asked.

“Of course,” Tiffany said. “How about you, Ara?”

“I can’t. I have a meeting and tons of work to do in the office. Maybe next time?”

“We can’t. We’ll be busy with our Japan activities,” Yuri said.

“It’s fine. Just enjoy your rest day,” Ara said.

“Ok. Just like Ara said, let’s enjoy our day off. We won’t be having any for a long time after this. Who wants to go to the gym with me?” Yuri said to which the girls avoided her. “Hey! Why won’t you go to the gym?” Yuri grumbled.

“You just enjoy your exercising while I will sleep some more,” Sunny said before leaving Yuri to go to her room.

A flurry of activities where seen in the dorm. Each and everyone is busy preparing for their day. One by one, the girls leave the safety of their dorm and start their day. A day free of stress and only fun things to do before they embark on another journey that will bring them much success.

-------------
“So, what did your sisters say?” Yonghwa asked when he saw Seohyun emerged in their dining room after her shower. He prepared some breakfast and offered some to Seohyun.

“They’ve been worried but I already tell them I’m fine so I guess it’s ok.” Seohyun shrugged. She started to eat and smiled when she saw that Yonghwa also prepared her a Ma shake.

“They won’t come and try to kill me, will they?”

“Of course not. Are you afraid of my Unnies, Oppa?” Seohyun said smiling at him while she continued eating.

“Well, they are scary plus there so many of them. Not to mention your SM Oppas,” Yonghwa answered earning a laugh from Seohyun. “What’s funny?” Yonghwa asked.

“You. You’re funny, Oppa.”

“I don’t find that amusing at all. It’s a serious matter, Hyunnie.”

“Don’t worry Oppa. No one will try to kill me. I’ll make sure of it,” Seohyun assured Yonghwa. “Besides, you’re no good to me if you’re dead.”

“What did you say?” Yonghwa said before he lunged on the table and try to catch Seohyun. Seohyun got up and run around the table, avoiding Yonghwa while laughing at him. They run around the dining room playing before Yonghwa catches Seohyun and wraps his arms around her waist, tickling her.

“Stop! Yonghwa Oppa!” Seohyun said wriggling out of Yonghwa’s embrace.

“Repeat what you just said! I’m no good to you if I’m dead?” Yonghwa asked still tickling Seohyun’s side.

“Stop! S…t…stop!” Seohyun is having a hard time making Yonghwa stop because of her laughter. She shrieks when Yonghwa rubs her side and pokes her ribs.

Yonghwa carried Seohyun in the living room and threw her to the couch before he followed suit. Both of them lay on the couch trying to catch their breaths while simultaneously giggling like two children. Yonghwa crawled on Seohyun side and pulled her closer.

“That will serve as a lesson for you. Don’t try to make fun of me. I’ll punish you severely,” Yonghwa said gasping for breath.

“Alright. Lesson learned, Oppa,” Seohyun said still giggling like a child. She turned to face him and ran her hands on his fringe.

“Ok. Let’s lie here some more before we go to your parents, alright?”

“Alright,” Seohyun said smiling while she snuggled closer to Yonghwa’s embrace.
------------
Ara walked on the hallways of MPY building. She’s reading some of her schedules for the day when she was stopped by one of the director in the planning department.

“Good morning, Director Min,” Director Park greeted her.

“Good morning,” Ara answered devoid of emotion. She never liked Director Park. He keeps on antagonizing her in every meeting and she knows that he’s keeping a closer watch on her, waiting for her to make a mistake and report to her father. He’s one of the few who thinks that she doesn’t deserve the position given to her.

“There’s a slight glitch in our system earlier. Apparently, someone tried to use our tracking system and some programs in our system. An unauthorized user tried to run a search on our system. Have you heard of it?” Director Park asked condescendingly.

“Yes, I heard of it,” Ara said still with her poker face.

“I ordered to look into the hacker and it turns out that a laptop in your dorm is used in doing the search. As far as I know, you’re the only one who is supposed to know how to get into our system. You personally designed that system. Am I correct Director Min?”

“You’re correct, Director Park. As a matter of fact, the person who is doing the search is none other than me. I tested the system and see if an unauthorized user can access our system. As you can see, the system recognized the hacker and stopped the search. It also deleted the incomplete results that it manages to have. The system completely shut down that computer. I’m merely performing a maintenance test early this morning. I didn’t know you will make a big deal out of it,” Ara sarcastically said while successfully hiding the real reason why she did the search.

“Is that so? But you see it takes the system a couple of minutes before it recognized the unauthorized use. If it’s a real hacker, it might get information completely because of those couple of minutes. That serves as a potential security problem.”

“You’re right that’s why I corrected the problem. Any unauthorized use will be recognized immediately and it will be put into its corresponding actions. No one can access the system without their authorized identification. You can check it if you want.”

“Really? That’s great to hear. I also asked the I.T to check what the user searched and it shows the phone number of SNSD’s Seohyun. I’m just curious as to why would you track Seohyun-ssi’s phone when she is just a room away from yours. You live together, right?” Director Park said trying to obviously trap her.

“I’m quite surprised to see how interested you are of me Director Park. Once again, you’re right to say that I did track Seohyun’s phone. As to my reason, it’s very easy. I already know where her phone is seeing that she lives with me so it becomes a lot easier for me to check the results that the tracking system give. If it gives a correct output then I will know and if it not, I would still know. Regardless of the output of the search, I will know what methods I will use to correct the potential problems. Seeing as it stopped the search because it recognized the unauthorized user, it becomes a lot easier to manipulate and solved the problem.” Ara explained, trying to hide her smile seeing the director’s uncomfortable look.

“Is that so? Thank you for your in-depth explanation Director Min. I learned a lot,” Director Park said.

“Your welcome but I suggest you give the same amount of interest to your own work. If you stop digging into my personal affairs and start channeling that energy into doing your work, perhaps the planning department will have a much productive output this year. As I remember, you are in the Planning Department not in the I.T. Department, Director Park,” Ara said smiling sweetly to him.

“Director Min,” Yoonshik called Ara, interrupting her talk with Director Park. “Oh, good morning Director Park,” Yoonshik greeted him.

“Good morning,” Director Park greeted back. “I’ll be going then. Have a nice day, Director Min.”

“You too. Don’t forget what I said. Stop meddling into other people’s affairs and focus on your own,” Ara said.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Director Park said before leaving.

“Good day to you,” Ara said to Director Park’s retreating back.

“What’s that all about?” Yoonshik asked her.

“Oh, he’s just being a jerk like always. Here, give this to the I.T. Dept. I modified some parts of our tracking system and updated some. Tell them to use this and to give me some reports about the results. Also, get someone who will watch Director Park’s every move. He’s being suspicious. I want to know what he’s planning and doing.”

“Alright. You’re meeting will soon start. The board is waiting for you in the conference room,” Yoonshik said taking some of the documents from Ara.

“Let’s go.”

Chapter 5 – Keys

“Are you going somewhere, Hyunnie?” Hyoyeon asked her roommate when she entered their room and found her not doing her usual ‘going to bed’ rituals but instead she’s fully dressed and ready to go out.

“Yes, Unnie. I’ll be out for a while,” Seohyun answered while fixing her hair in front of the mirror.

“Date?” Hyoyeon asked which made Seohyun’s cheek redder.

“Ah….ne….Yonghwa oppa asked me if I can spare him some time before our flight the next day,” Seohyun replied blushing when Hyoyeon mentioned the word ‘date’.

“What will you do?” Hyoyeon asked excitedly. She sat in her bed, pulled one of her pillows on her lap and faced Seohyun.

“I don’t know. He said it’s a surprise,” Seohyun answered while putting some lip gloss on her lips.

“Oohhh….You’re so lucky. I wish I have a boyfriend too,” Hyoyeon gushes while she watches Seohyun fixing her cap to conceal her hair as well as her face. “Do you know where you’re going?”

“I don’t know. Yong Oppa is being his childish self. He refuses to even give some hints,” Seohyun smiles remembering her futile attempts in coaxing Yonghwa to tell what will they do.

“If that’s the case, don’t stay up too late,” Hyoyeon said before she gets ready for bed. Seohyun then stands up after finishing her get-up and says her goodbyes to Hyoyeon before leaving their room. She also informed her other unnies that are in the living room that she’s going out before leaving.

------------
The moment she saw his car, her steps quickens. She entered the car and greeted him cheerfully.

“Hello Oppa.”

“Hi. How are you, my goddess?” Yonghwa said while he helped Seohyun in putting her seatbelt.

“Ew. Oppa you’re so cheesy,” Seohyun said before Yonghwa gave her lips a chaste kiss.

“Are you ready?” Yonghwa asked while he starts the car.

“And you’re so sneaky too,” Seohyun added putting her hands on both of her cheeks to stop herself from blushing so much.

“Well, you like it. Don’t pretend that you didn’t. I know everything,” Yonghwa smugly said. “Let’s go!”

“Where are we going, Oppa?”

“Somewhere nice.”

“Where is this ‘nice place’? It’s not your dorm, right?” Seohyun asked while she chose some songs in Yonghwa’s player.

“Do you want to go to our dorm?”

“It would be nice to see the guys. I haven’t seen them in a while,” Seohyun pondered.

“Yah, do you miss them more than you miss me?” Yonghwa said starting his childish act again.

“Ah jeongmal! There you go being Yong-choding again,” Seohyun teases him.

“Answer me, Seo Joohyun. Do you miss them more than me?”

“Of course not. I miss you more, Oppa. Happy?”

“Not quite.”

“Why?”

“I want you to miss me the most,” Yonghwa said pouting his lips.

“Choding, choding,” Seohyun said shaking her head before yawning.

“You can sleep. Our destination is far,” Yonghwa said when he noticed how tired Seohyun is.

“I’m fine,” Seohyun replied, tapping his shoulder to assure him.

“I insist. Hyun, you’ve been having some crazy schedule nowadays. You can rest for a while,” Yonghwa said while he caressed Seohyun’s cheeks with the back of his hand.

“I should say the same to you Oppa. You’re preparing for your full album and a drama,” Seohyun stubbornly said while she leaned her face in Yonghwa’s hand.

“Aish! Suit yourself. I can never win an argument with you,” Yonghwa said shaking his head.

“Argument? Are we having an argument Yonghwa Oppa?”

“Aniya. I’m just making a point.”

“Alright. Since you insist, I’ll take a short nap. Wake me up when we get there.”

“Your wish is my command, my goddess.”

“Ewwww. Oppa!” Seohyun said before she leaned her head on the head rest and tried to sleep.

True to what Yonghwa said, the drive to their secret date is really long. It feels like she slept quite a while when she felt Yonghwa waking her up.

“Hyun, we’re here,” Yonghwa whispered close to her ear.

“Hhmmmmmmmm.”

“Do you want me to carry you?” Yonghwa asked when Seohyun didn’t seem like waking up. “Ok, challenge accepted!” Yonghwa got out of the car and went to open the passenger door. He swiftly carries Seohyun before locking his car and walking in the elevator.

Seohyun felt like she is floating in the air. She remembered Yonghwa trying to wake her but she refused and then someone hugging her. Now she felt like she’s flying. ‘This is a weird dream,’ Seohyun thought when she was roused from a noise that sounds like an elevator bell.

“Oppa!”

“Oh, you’re awake,” Yonghwa said nonchalantly.

“No wonder I feel like floating. Why are you carrying me? And where are we?” Seohyun asked when she finally took notice of her surroundings. They are in an apartment complex but she is certain that it’s not Yonghwa’s dorm. The interior of the hallways are much more elegant than in his dorm and it’s very big. It seems like there are in a first-class apartment complex.

“This is my surprise for you,” Yonghwa said when they reach a particular apartment. “I’m gonna have to put you down in order for me to open the door Hyun,” Yonghwa said before slowly putting her down. Yonghwa keyed-in the password for the door and when it opens, he let Seohyun entered first.

“Woah! This is really beautiful,” Seohyun exclaimed as she looks around the apartment. The walls are white with a touch of light silver which makes it look like it is shining. The living room is really spacious with a yellow couch and a daybed at the side facing the windows. The windows are really big being that it’s a floor to ceiling type and it holds a magnificent view of the city skylights. It has an open kitchen and a small dining table. Every thing feels like sparkling and it screams of a bachelor feel in the house.

“Do you like it?” Yonghwa asked looking at Seohyun’s reaction carefully.

“It’s beautiful. Did you rent this?”

“No, actually I bought it. This is my new apartment and you are the first and most special guest.,” he said spreading both of his arms wide.

“Really?”

“Really.”

“Wow! But I thought you bought the one in Busan?” Seohyun asked remembering his new apartment in his hometown that he mentioned.

“My parents bought that for me. This apartment, I bought it with my own money. Cool right?” Yonghwa said standing close to her and wrapping his arms on her waist.

“Cool.”

“Do you want a full tour?”

“Sure.” Yonghwa took Seohyun into one of the rooms which is clearly his bedroom. The bed occupied the large part of the room and the shelves are decorated with family pictures as well as mini guitar statues. Some books are also in it together with his collection of his favorite cds and dvds. Beside it was a home theater. On the other side again facing the windows is a study table together with his laptop and other gadgets. They went outside and Yonghwa showed him his music room. In the room are some musical instruments and other devices the he uses in creating songs. His keyboards and guitar are lined in one corner and on the other side is a shelve full of his other cds. After the tour, Seohyun decided to rest in the living room while Yonghwa prepares some snacks and drinks.

“Am I really the first one to visit?” Seohyun asked when Yonghwa returned from the kitchen with fruits and some juice.

“Yes.”

“This is really beautiful. We are in Hongdae right?”

“Yeah, when I told the management that I will be buying an apartment, they recommend it to be close to the company. This is also close to our dorm so the boys can come here whenever they like. Here,” Yonghwa said handing her a card-key.

“What’s this?” Seohyun asked.

“That’s your key for this house.”

“Oppa?”

Yonghwa saw the alarmed look in Seohyun’s eyes so he quickly explains.

“I’m not asking you to move in with me though I would certainly love that. I just want this house to be our ‘get-away place’. You can come whenever you like even if I’m not here. I just want to share this place to you.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Seohyun said eyeing the card key on her lap.

“Just say you’ll accept it. You can design the house. Whatever suits your taste just say yes,” Yonghwa said holding both of her hands.

Seohyun looked at Yonghwa’s eyes and saw his sincerity. She can’t help but feel strange. Her heart beats ten times faster and she can honestly say that all she can hear right now is the sound of heartbeats.

“Do you know what you’re trying to ask me? You’re asking me if I can share this house with you. Do you know what that means?” Seohyun asked him.

“I know. I thought about it for a very long time. I saw how you wanted to keep our first house during our last filming. I saw how you can’t get away and it dawned on me. I want us to have a house again. Our very own outside the context of a reality show. I want some place where we can call it home. I know you may think that we’re moving really fast but Hyun I love you and I want to spend every second of my life with you. I know it’s a little difficult considering our situations as idols but I want this. I want you. Here. In my house. In my life. I want you Seo Joohyun,” Yonghwa said gripping her hands tighter.

Seohyun answered by hugging him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulders.

“Can I take that as a yes?” Yonghwa asked while he hugs her back.

“Yes. Thank you Oppa,” Seohyun answered nodding her head.

“No, I should be the one thanking you. Thank you, my goddess.”

They stay like that for a while. Both enjoying the feel of each other. Both feeling the contentment of being in each other’s arms. After a moment, Yonghwa lean back to look at  Seohyun.

“Why?” Seohyun asked.

“I’m just happy,” Yonghwa said grinning while he holds both of Seohyun’s cheeks. “I love you.”

“I lov- love you too Oppa,” Seohyun stutters.

“Why do you always stutter whenever you say you love me?”

“No I didn’t,” Seohyun denied it.

“Yes you did.”

“No I didn’t.”

“Yes you did.”

“Did not.”

“Did yes.”

“Ah cham! Oppa!” Seohyun whined struggling to get away from Yonghwa.

“Alright, alright. I’ll stop. Come here,” Yonghwa said pulling her back to him and kissing her.

The kiss, just like their every other kisses started as sweet and innocent. Yonghwa gave her a series of light kisses. Pecking her lips every once in a while. Teasing her until she can’t take it and proceeds to lock her lips on his. He nibbles on her lower lip then her upper lip. Licking it then sucking it which earned a gasp from Seohyun. Yonghwa took advantage of that opportunity and proceeded to explore the inside of her mouth, tasting her. He pulled her closer and she ended sitting on his lap. Yonghwa leans back on the couch without pulling his lips away from Seohyun. He pulled Seohyun until she ended up kneeling in front of him with both of her legs on each side of his. He bit her lower lip before nibbling it earning a quiet moan from her. The kiss that started innocent and sweet turned into something serious with more passion and urgency. Yonghwa moaned into the kiss when he felt Seohyun’s tongue mimicking what he did to her. He gripped her hips and splayed his hands on her back. He gasped when Seohyun unexpectedly grounded her hips on his. Seohyun stopped when she notices Yonghwa gripping her hips tighter while he closed his eyes.

“Did I do something wrong?” she innocently asked making Yonghwa opened his eyes and stared at her.

“No but if you move again I’ll be too happy and you wouldn’t want that to happen. I’m sure you’re not ready to see that yet,” Yonghwa struggles to explain. He’s still fighting for control and seeing Seohyun straddling him while looking at him innocently with her hair disheveled and her lips red from kissing her earlier is definitely not helping him.

“What?” Seohyun asked while she shifts in a comfortable position on Yonghwa’s lap making Yonghwa to groan again.

“Hyun, you’re killing me,” Yonghwa said.

“Do you want me to get off?” Seohyun said, blushing when she finally understand Yongwa’s problem.

“No no no. I like you being there. Just give me a few minutes,” Yonghwa said leaning his head on Seohyun’s shoulder and pulling her closer.  Seohyun hugged him back and rested her head on his shoulder. Both of them trying to even their breathing.

After a few minutes, Seohyun felt Yonghwa kissing her neck and his hands caressing her back.

“So are you okay now?” she asked.

“Hmmmmm,” Yonghwa mumbles, still planting soft kisses on her neck upwards going to the place below her earlobe.

Seohyun disentangled herself from him and sit in the couch making Yonghwa pout at her. If she didn’t get away from him now, she’s afraid of what might happen next.

“What?” Yonghwa asked trying to make her go back to her position.

“We need to clean the table Oppa,” Seohyun said standing up and getting the plates.

“We can clean it later,” Yonghwa said taking the plate from her hands.

“Oppa I say we need to clean the table,” Seohyun said looking at Yonghwa seriously. Yonghwa relented seeing that Seohyun is not in the mood to play with him anymore.

“Alright. I’ll wash the plates and you clean the table,” Yonghwa said also standing up.

“Ok.”

After they washed the plates and clean the tables, the two decided to watch some shows. Both of them changed into comfortable clothes which Yonghwa provided. Both of them wore a couple sweat pants and shirt which Yonghwa bought. Seohyun is still amazed to see how much Yonghwa prepared for this night. He really thought of sharing the house with her. Everything she needs are there, from her own set of clothes (although the style is quite different from her usual type) down to her toiletries. He even bought some beauty products for her especially those of which she always used such as lotion, moisturizer and facial wash. Seohyun sat at the end of the couch while Yonghwa laid his head on her lap. Yonghwa is busy flipping through the channels and Seohyun is reading her diary while running her hands on Yonghwa’s hair.

“Hy~un,” Yonghwa cooed, obviously bored when he finally gave up looking for interesting shows in the TV.

“Hmmmm,” Seohyun answered still reading her diary and checking her schedules for the week.

Yonghwa held her hand and laid it on his stomach while he drew small circles at the back of it. Seohyun finally look at him after a while of trying to get her attention.

“What Oppa?”

“Stay the night?” Yonghwa asked almost pleading with that piercing look of his. Seohyun just stared at him, too shocked to say anything.

“You’re joking. Stop that nonsense Oppa,” Seohyun said when she finally gathered her wits enough to reply to him.

“I’m serious,” Yonghwa said before sitting up and holding both of her hands on his lap.

“Oppa!”

“What?”

“Stop joking please.”

“I told you I am serious,” Yonghwa said looking straight at her eyes.

“I-I-I can’t,” Seohyun stuttered. She fixed her gaze to her lap, avoiding Yonghwa’s gaze.

“We don’t have to do anything if that’s what’s stopping you. I just want to spend more time with you. I’ll drive you to your dorm first thing in the morning. Just say yes,” Yonghwa said putting his hands on her chin and making her look at him.

“We won’t do anything?”

“I promise we won’t do anything that you don’t want. You can put a pillow between us if you want to,” Yonghwa assured Seohyun while he held her hands tighter.

“Really? It’s fine with you if I put a pillow between us?” Seohyun asked.

“Well, I want to hug you to sleep at the least but if you’re more comfortable with a pillow between us then I’m fine with it,” Yonghwa assured her looking like a cute little puppy with his lips pouting like a duck.

“Fine, I’ll stay,” Seohyun nodded shyly.

“Yes!” Yonghwa shouted before hugging her tight.

“Why are you so happy?” she asked him when she saw how his eyes lighted up and his cheeks bursting with delight.

“I thought you won’t agree. I’m worrying about how to ask you for days actually.  This night is really great. I’m ecstatic,” Yonghwa said while he jumps on the couch to prove his point.

“I can see that,” Seohyun said smiling at him. “Come back here,” Seohyun said pulling his hands towards her. Yonghwa sat beside her and wrapped his arms on her shoulders.

“Your schedule is really intense. Aren’t you tired?” Yonghwa asked while he gathered her hair in one side and started to massage Seohyun’s shoulders.

“A bit but it’s all worth it Oppa. To be on stage is really an amazing experience,” Seohyun said, leaning on Yonghwa. She’s enjoying the feel of his hands on her shoulder.

“So do you want to get ready to sleep,” Yonghwa whispered, making sure that his lips are close to Seohyun’s ear. He can’t help but smile when he saw the obvious effect that it had on her. She stiffened up and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up.

“Y-y-ye-yes,” Seohyun answered also in a whisper but enough for Yonghwa to hear. He stood up and held both of her hands. He took her diary and put it on the side table. He walked backwards towards their bedroom. He smiled at the thought, ‘their bedroom’. He likes the sound of it. Yonghwa kept on staring at Seohyun on their way to the room. Still walking backwards and pulling her using her hands which he is holding, he gave her a wink earning a smile from Seohyun.

“You look excited,” Seohyun stated while she studied Yonghwa’s face.

“I am excited,” Yonghwa said grinning from ear to ear.

“Why? We’re just sleeping,” Seohyun said, unable to understand how Yonghwa’s mind works.

“Together. We’re sleeping together,” Yonghwa amended. He opened the door that leads to the bedroom and let Seohyun enter first. “Nervous?” he asked.

“No,” Seohyun denied immediately.

“Then why are your face as red as a tomato?” Yonghwa teased her, pulling her against him and circling his hands on her waist.

“Oppa!” Seohyun doesn’t know what to do but whine.

“Alright, you get ready for bed while I arrange the bed. Ok?” Yonghwa said running his hands on both sides of Seohyun’s arms to relax her. When Seohyun nodded, he led her to the bathroom which is inside the room.

“Ok Seo Joohyun. You can do this. You’ll just sleep. It’s Yonghwa Oppa who’s out there. He won’t do anything to hurt you. You’ll be fine,” Seohyun said to herself while she faced the mirror psyching herself. She washed her face and removed her make-up.

Meanwhile outside the bathroom, Yonghwa is doing the very same thing.

“Jung Yonghwa get a grip of yourself. Control, control, control.  We’ll just sleep. You will make her comfortable. Be a gentleman and don’t mess it up. It’ll be fine,” Yonghwa said while he arranged the bed. He took the extra pillows in the closet and put it in the middle of the bed. When he heard the sound of the door opening and closing, he knew that Seohyun entered the room as well.

“Oppa,” Seohyun called him.

“All set,” Yonghwa said before he faced Seohyun with his grinning face.

Seohyun looked the bed which is divided into two by a set of pillows that serves as a borderline. She can’t help but smile seeing how considerate Yonghwa is to her. She felt foolish to doubt him when he’s doing his best for the both of them.

“Oppa.”

“Do you like it?” Yonghwa asked.

“I think we don’t need many pillows to sleep,” Seohyun suggested, tilting her head in his direction and giving him a dazzling smile.

“Hyun, are you sure?” Yonghwa asked her. “It’s fine with me if we have the pillows as long as you’re comfortable. You don’t need to be afraid.”

“I’m sure Oppa. I trust you,” Seohyun said taking his hands. “Let’s sleep. Goodnight Oppa.”

Both of them lay in the bed with the comforter covering up to their chin. Lying parallel to each other with a space between them that can fit another person, Yonghwa can’t sleep and so is Seohyun. In the end, the two of them both stared at the ceiling for a long time. When Yonghwa can’t stand the awkwardness, he shifted to his side and faced Seohyun.

“Are you sleeping?”

“No,” she answered.

“Why can’t you sleep? Are you uncomfortable?” he asked. Seohyun also shifted to her side and faced him.

“No. I’m fine Oppa. I guess I’m just not used to sleeping here with you,” Seohyun said.

“Come here,” Yonghwa said pulling her towards him. He sneaked his arms under her head and he rested his other hand on her waist. Seohyun snuggled closer, with her head beneath Yonghwa’s chin and her cheeks pressed against his chest.

“It’s a little different,” Seohyun whispered after a while.

“What’s different?” Yonghwa asked while he runs his hands on Seohyun’s back slowly, tracing her spine and making little circles on it.

“I’m used to having a roommate. It’s just that Hyoyeon Unnie and Fany Unnie never hugged me to sleep,” Seohyun said feeling Yonghwa pulling her closer.

“Well I told you before, I’m different than them. They’re your sisters while I am your husband,” Yonghwa said kissing the top of her head.

“Husband?”

“Yes, husband. Don’t you like it?”

“No, I like it. I like it very much,” Seohyun said hugging him tighter.

“Goodnight, Hyun.”

“Goodnight, Oppa.” And together they both fell asleep, hugging each other.

Chapter 4 – Meeting the In-Laws

Yonghwa has been a complete mess since this morning. The glow of happiness that surrounded him when he got home late last night was gone the moment he remembered what Seohyun said about eating dinner with her sisters. When it finally entered in his mind and he realized what sort of predicament he was in, his nerves finally reacted. He hardly slept and he’s already having a bad day when all of a sudden Jinwoon and Seulong hyung came to visit him in their studio.

“Yonghwa-yah!” Seuloung greeted him and the boys when he entered their practice room.

“Hyung! What are you doing here?” Yonghwa asked the two 2AM members.

“We just want to visit. We brought some foods for you guys,” Jinwoon said offering the foods.

“Thanks Woonie,” Jungshin said accepting the bags of food.

“So how’s practice?” Seulong asked the boys.

“It’s fine. Our comeback is drawing near that’s why we’re pulling all-nighters,” Minhyuk answered while Jonghyun is busy eating already.

“Hyung, you promised to help me in my rock album, remember?” Jinwoon asked Yonghwa.

“I do. Just tell me what you need and I’ll help you,” Yonghwa said.

“Thanks hyung. Jonghyun hyung, stop eating and show me some of your guitar tricks,” Jinwoon said leaving Yonghwa and Seuloung alone.

“So what’s up?” Seuloung asked him.

“Nothing, what are you trying to say?” Yonghwa asked his hyung.

“Come on. Spill already. Hongki told me that you’re dating Seohyun-ssi.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Yonghwa said feigning nonchalance.

“You’re not dating her? So it means that it’s alright for Jinwoon to finally woo her?” Seulong challenged Yonghwa, knowing how he will react.

“I like her and it will be impossible for Jinwoon. She sees Jinwoon as a friend only,” Yonghwa said.

“You like her but you’re not dating her so it’s open season when it comes to the maknae of SNSD,” Seulong concluded. “Everyone has a chance to win her heart since she’s not taken.”

“Hyung!”

“What? You said you’re not dating her.”

“Why are you really here? Tell me.”

“Fine. It’s been weeks since you ended your virtual marriage and the final episode will air next week. Jinwoon thinks that since he’s been harboring this one-sided love for a very long time, it’s time to confess. I told him to wait because I want to know your side first. I don’t want to get in the middle of my two dongsaeng fighting for the same girl.”

“Does Jinwoon really like her?” Yonghwa asked while looking at Jinwoon across the room playing with Jonghyun and Jungshin.

“Why do you think he wants to continue his rock album?” Seuloung asked back.

“Hyung, we’re dating, Seohyun and I are dating,” Yonghwa whispered.

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“Since when?”

“I asked her after the final filming day. We’ve been together since,” Yonghwa answered.

“Good for you. I’m happy for you. As for Jinwoon, I guess I’ll start looking for possible girlfriends for him. Crap, this will be an endless night of him crying,” Seulong said.

“I don’t think he will cry. That’s being absurd,” Yonghwa said.

“That guy is head over heels in love. Do you know how much he hated you just because you’re paired with her in WGM? It’s a good thing that you’re pretty decent and you two became friends because if not, I don’t know what he would have done to you,” Seulong said.

“Don’t tell him that I’m dating Seohyun. Let him do what he wants,” Yonghwa suggested.

“And watch him get his hopes up for him to get brokenhearted in the end? That’s pretty extreme,” Seulong said.

“I think he will still do what he wants to do regardless of whether I like her or not. I think it’s better for him to hear it from Seohyun. That way, it’ll be a clean break. At least he can say that he tried his best and he won’t have regrets. What do you think?” Yonghwa suggested.

“You have a point. I’ll ask Changmin and Jokwon. We’ll deal with Jinwoon,” Seulong said. “Why does he end up falling for someone as elusive as Seohyun?” Seulong asked no one.

“She’s special. You can’t help falling for her,” Yonghwa said.

“And you’re one great lucky bastard for having her as your girlfriend,” Seulong said clapping his back.

“I know.”

“Just don’t try to mess things up. I don’t think I can help you if you make her cry. Her SM oppas and unnies are really scary,” Seulong advised him.

“I know. You think I don’t know that? I’ve been very careful all this time because of that. Ever since I joined WGM, I feel that everyone is watching my back hoping for me to make some mistake,” Yonghwa said.

“Good luck with that,” Seulong said before standing up and saying his goodbyes. “Jinwoon-ah, time to go!”

When Seulong and Jinwoon left, Yonghwa and the guys continue their rehearsals until late at night. They’ve been doing their best practicing for their upcoming album release. All of them are tired but excited. Yonghwa ended their practice after receiving a text from her girlfriend.

‘Oppa! Are you finished practicing? Me and unnie-deul are here in the dorm already. We’re preparing the food now. You can come later. See you.’

Yonghwa read the message and remembered his supposed to be meeting with Seohyun’s unnies. ‘This will be a disaster. I’m dead,’ Yonghwa thought. He went home to his dorm and freshened up for the upcoming late dinner. He texted Seohyun that he is on his way. After that, he checked on the boys and told them that he’s leaving. On his way to Seohyun’s dorm, he can’t help feeling nervous. He remembered feeling this nervous when he was also going to Seohyun’s dorm to confess. Now it gets worse. ‘I need to get their approval. I just need to. For Seohyun,’ Yonghwa said to himself.

----------------
“Oppa!” Seohyun greeted him when he arrived at the back entrance and got out of the car.

“Anyong, Hyun,” Yonghwa said taking her hands while holding the foods and flowers on the other.

“Here, let me help you with that,” Seohyun offered but he refused to give her some of the things he’s holding.

“I can manage it,” Yonghwa said smiling. They went to the elevator and Seohyun pressed her floor number. “Are they here already?” Yonghwa asked.

“Yes. We’ve been preparing for dinner right after we arrived,” Seohyun answered happily. “What did you bring?” she asked him.

“Just some desserts and flowers for you,” Yonghwa said.

“Thank you. You shouldn’t have bought so many things.”

“Of course I do. I need to make a good impression,” Yonghwa said making Seohyun laugh at him.

“You already did. They like you,” Seohyun said reassuring him and making him less nervous.

“All of them?” Yonghwa asked.

“All of them,” Seohyun answered.

“That’s a relief but Hyun being married to you in national TV is different with being your boyfriend.”

“How’s that different? We still do what we used to do when we are in WGM minus the missions and cameras of course.”

“It’s more real now and I don’t want to make a mistake when it comes to our relationship. You’re too important for me.”

“We can’t avoid making some mistakes along the way, Oppa. In that way, we will learn and eventually grow up. Don’t worry, whatever happens I promise to always listen to your explanations first if ever you made some mistakes,” Seohyun said giving his hands a tight squeeze.

“Thank you,” Yonghwa said. When they reached the door of Seohyun’s dorm, Yonghwa’s nervousness grew tenfold.

“You’ll be the first ever male celebrity that is invited in our dorm. You should be honored,” Seohyun said teasing Yonghwa.

“I know. The pleasure is all mine,” Yonghwa said holding her hand tightly.

“Nervous?” Seohyun asked him.

“A little,” Yonghwa answered before Seohyun keyed-in their dorm’s passcode. Right after the moment they entered the threshold, a cheerful greetings from the girls welcomed them.

“Yongseobang!” the girls greeted him

“Welcome home,” Taeyeon, the calm one smilingly said.

“Here let me help you with that,” one of the Soshi members offered taking the things without waiting for Yonghwa’s answer.

“You shouldn’t have brought many things,” one of them commented.

“What are these?” one of them asked.

“Cake and ice cream for dessert. Hyun told me you all love cake and ice creams,” Yonghwa answered. He’s overwhelmed by the attention given to him. He just followed them inside, not leaving Seohyun’s side even for a second.

“Wow! Girls, he brought some more food,” Tiffany said calling the others in the living room.

“What about the flowers?” Sica asked.

“It’s for Seohyun, of course,” Tiffany answered before walking to the kitchen and pulling Hyoyeon, Sunny, Yuri and Yoona in the living room to greet their visitor. Meanwhile, Taeyeon went back to the kitchen after making sure Yonghwa is settled in the living room.

Yonghwa sat in the couch together with Seohyun, Jessica and Sooyoung. He tried to look at the interior of the dorm while trying to avoid Hyun’s sister’s gazes.

“Your house is very beautiful,” Yonghwa commented. “And big too,” he added after a thorough look at the living room.

“Thank you,” Hyun said. “Sica unnie, where’s Ara unnie?” Seohyun asked her sister.

“She’s running late. She called saying she’s still in some meeting,” Sooyoung answered while Sica continued to observe Yonghwa.

“Meeting? About what?” Seohyun asked.

“I don’t know. She didn’t mention it. Don’t worry, she’ll be here in a moment,” Sica assured Seohyun.

“So how are you Yongseobang?” Sooyoung asked Yonghwa.

“I’m fine. We’re preparing for our comeback,” Yonghwa answered while rubbing his palm on his pants because of sweat.

“So I’ve heard. You’re also preparing for some drama right?”

“Yes but that’s in the early stage of planning. It’s not confirmed yet.”

“Is it true that you auditioned for MPY endorsement?” Sica bluntly asked.

“Unnie!” Seohyun tried to stop Jessica. She accidentally told her unnies about the audition but she didn’t know that Sica unnie will questioned him about that. Yonghwa didn’t say if it was alright to tell others about the audition.

“Oh, am I not allowed to ask that?” Jessica asked Sooyoung.

“Aish, you’re a lost case,” Sooyoung commented.

“No its fine,” Yonghwa assured Jessica. “I did auditioned for MPY,” he answered while he reached out for Seohyun’s hand to silently tell her he’s alright. The gesture didn’t go unnoticed by Sooyoung and Jessica and the two shared a look.

“Really? How was it?” Jessica asked. Yonghwa ended up telling the two about the audition and all of the small details just like how he told Seohyun yesterday. It seems like that they are all interested as to how MPY do the screenings.

“I’m gonna asked Ara later about the percentages and the criteria,” Sooyoung said after listening to Yonghwa’s story.

“That’s self-explanatory already. You know how she is with people. The real question is how she will monitor the artists,” Sica said voicing her opinions too.

“You said that she mentioned not just your entertainment activities but all of your activities?” Sooyoung asked.

“Yes. We’re not sure too how the entire process is. I guess we have to wait and see,” Yonghwa said.

“I can’t wait. I want to know now,” Sooyoung said.

“Unnie, just ask Ara unnie later,” Seohyun suggested.

“You’re right. I’ll do that later,” Sooyoung agreed.

“Anyway, how are you doing? Being Seohyun’s boyfriend and all?” Jessica asked suddenly stirring the topic away from the audition and dropping the million dollar question already.

“Unnie!” Seohyun whined while Yonghwa just laugh.

---------
“Look at Jessica and Sooyoung doing the ‘good cop bad cop’ there,” Yuri said while she help Yoona with the plates and utensils.

“They look so good together,” Yoona gushes while she arranges the plates.

“They really do. Look at their hands. They have the nerve to hold each others hands while being with Jessica,” Yuri said smiling at the four in the living room.

“I’m so envious of them.”

“Hey, leave some space for the cake and ice cream,” Sunny said while putting some food on the table.

“We should just put the ice cream in the fridge. It’s for dessert,” Taeyeon said while she and Hyoyeon helped with the other dishes.

“Ok, preparation complete!” Hyoyeon exclaimed. “Call them already,” she told the girls.

“Hyunnie, dinner is ready,” Yuri called the people in the living room. The four of them stood up and head towards the dining table when the front door suddenly opened.

“Unnie, I’m here. Sorry I’m late,” Ara said entering their home. “Oh, Jung Yonghwa-ssi anyonghaseyo,” she greeted their guest.

“Anyonghaseyo, Director Min,” Yonghwa greeted back.

“You really have an impeccable timing. Dinner is ready,” Sica said taking Ara’s bag and putting it in the couch.

“Really? Who cooked?” Ara asked.

“Don’t worry. Taeyeon and Sunny did the cooking. Hyoyeon helped too,” Sooyoung answered while wrapping her arms around Ara’s shoulder and stirring her towards the dining room.

“That’s nice to hear,” Ara said laughing at her unnies. She knew full well the culinary skills of all of her unnies. It’s a surprise that they manage to stir Yuri unnie and Sica unnie away from the food or else it’ll be a disaster and they will have to settle for take outs.

Yonghwa was surprised to see a different side of Min Ara. Gone was the charismatic director and replaced by the cheerful dongsaeng that is surrounded by her unnies. All he was rendered to do was observe how Seohyun is when all of her unnies are present. It’s nice to see how the girls interact with each other.

All of them sat at the dining table and began to eat. At first Yonghwa thought that it will be very awkward just like how Seohyun was when she first met her brothers- in-law but he’s wrong. The conversations flow freely and there is definitely zero awkwardness during dinner. Maybe it’s because of the cheerfulness and endless energy of them.

“I heard that you’re busy with your schedule so I would like to thank you for coming here even though you’re busy,” Taeyeon said.

“No, it’s fine. The pleasure is all mine,” Yonghwa replied.

“How’s your comeback preparation?” Sunny asked Yonghwa.

“Our comeback is nearing so we’ve been practicing like crazy. We also filmed some shows for promotions.”

“Do you know who’s gonna be your lead actress in your drama?” Yoona asked.

“I’m not sure because the preparation for that drama is not yet confirmed but I heard that they want Shinhye to be my partner,” Yonghwa answered feeling like he’s in some kind of an interrogation. The questions just won’t stop and he’s supposed to answer all of them.

“Ooohh, Park Shinhye-ssi?” Now it’s Yuri’s turn to ask.

“Yes.”

“Brilliant! Since you didn’t manage to get her in You’re Beautiful, you’re being given a second shot and this time you’ll succeed since you’re the lead actor,” Sooyoung commented.

“Nice, it’s a good idea to draw the fan attention. Right, Ara?” Hyoyeon added.

“It’s a good strategy but it all depends on the storyline. Good luck with your drama and your comeback,” Ara said.

“Thank you, Director Min.”

“You can call me Ara. It’s weird hearing you call me director at my own house. Here I’m not the director. I’m just Min Ara, Seohyun’s unnie,” Ara said.

“Right, you can also drop the formalities since you’re older than her,” Tiffany said.

“Alright, If it’s ok then I’ll do that,” Yonghwa said.

“It’s fine. Outside MPY, I’m just an ordinary person,” Ara said.

“We just want to tell you Yonghwa that we’re all glad that you’re with Seohyun now. We hope that you’ll take care of her,” Tiffany said after a short silence.

“In other words, we’ll be watching you,” Jessica added.

“Unnie!” Seohyun whined stopping her sisters.

“Ah, thank you and don’t worry, I’ll do my best,” Yonghwa said. ‘It’s started,’ he thought nervously.

“We’ll see,” Sunny commented.

“It’s alright to ask him some questions right? Since we haven’t had a chance to do it,” Yuri asked Taeyeon.

“What do you mean?” Sooyoung asked.

“Taeyeon, Tiffany, Hyoyeon and Sooyoung already interrogated him during one of WGM filming so it’s our turn,” Jessica said. “If that’s alright with you, Yongseobang?”

“It’s fine. Ask away,” Yonghwa said wiping his palms on his thighs because of nervousness. Seriously, Jessica’s stare is really scary.

“Unnie, stop torturing him,” Seohyun said trying to stop her sisters.

“Look at our maknae. She’s shifting her loyalties already,” Yoona teasingly said while her unnies laugh.

“No, I’m not,” Seohyun said indignantly.

“So Yongseobang, how is Seohyun as a girlfriend?” Yuri asked.

“She’s great,” Yonghwa said smiling at Seohyun.

“And you, Hyunnie. How is Yongseobang as a boyfriend?” Yoona asked.

“He’s been very good to me,” Seohyun shyly answered.

“Is there any difference between your relationship on screen and now?” Sunny asked.

“There’s none. We’re still the same. Just imagine not having the cameras around us and you’ll have a good idea of how we are as a couple,” Yonghwa happily answered.

“That means no skinship at all,” Yuri commented.

“Unnie!” Seohyun said.

“Alright alright. We won’t ask you about skinship,” Yuri said.

“You really are a patient guy, aren’t you Yongseobang?” Yoona asked.

“I guess I am. It’s fine with me. I don’t mind waiting as long as it’s Seohyun,” Yonghwa answered earning squeals from his sisters –in-law and a blush from Seohyun.

“I’m so envious of them,” Sooyoung said signaling the end of the interrogation. They decided to eat their dessert on the living room while watching some movies and talking about anything.

“Anyway, since all of us are finished eating, why don’t we let Seohyun take Yonghwa to look at our dorm,” Taeyeon suggested after they finished watching some English show.

“Why can’t we join them?” Sooyoung asked.

“We can’t because we still need to go to the company. We have some rehearsals,” Taeyeon said.

“Is it alright to leave them alone here?” Jessica asked which made Yonghwa and Seohyun blush.

“Sica unnie, let’s go. They can manage and it’s Seohyun we’re talking about not Sooyoung unnie,” Yoona jokingly said.

“I heard that. Im Yoona you’re dead,” Sooyoung said before she followed Yoona who’s already at the door together with Sunny.

“Bye maknae. Take care of the house,” Tiffany and Jessica said.

“Hyunnie, we’re going,” Ara said pulling Yuri and Hyoyeon with her.

“Unnie, you just got home. Where are you going?” Seohyun asked Ara.

“I promised to watch the rehearsals so I’ll be leaving with them. Have fun,” Ara answered before closing the door and finally leaving Yonghwa and Seohyun alone.

“Well.”

“That went well,” Yonghwa said.

“So would you like a tour of the house?” Seohyun awkwardly asked.

“Sure. I would love to see your room,” Yonghwa teases.

“Oppa!” Seohyun whined which made Yonghwa bursts in laughter.

Seohyun ended up showing Yonghwa their dorm. She showed him all of the rooms. She thinks that she managed to show him every corner of their dorm including her own room. Lastly, she took him to the balcony.

“Wow! The scenery is beautiful,” Yonghwa said holding her hands.

“You’re right but we rarely use the balcony,” Seohyun said while swinging both of their hands playfully.

“Why?”

“Because of the press. Sometimes they linger outside so we take preventive measures. We don’t want other people seeing what we’re doing in our private time.”

“You’re right. Let’s go inside,” Yonghwa suggested.

They sat on the couch and Yonghwa wrapped his arms around her shoulders. Seohyun leaned her head on Yonghwa’s shoulders.

“Aren’t you supposed to join the others on your rehearsals?” Yonghwa asked after a short silence.

“Ara unnie will do the talking there,” Seohyun said.

“What do you mean?” Yonghwa asked.

“The reason why Ara unnie will watch the rehearsal is to make an excuse for me. She’s in-charge of our managers if they look for me,” Seohyun said.

“Really?”

“Yes. Since she’s the director of MPY and she’s a major stockholder too, the managers listen to her.”

“Wow. That’s awesome. Maybe I can ask her to help me ditch our practice too,” Yonghwa said.

“Ara unnie only did that because of me. She’s giving us time as a gift and she knows that we’ll not be seeing each other for months after this,” Seohyun explained.

“She’s different. When I met her in MPY, she’s very charismatic but when she arrived earlier she’s like just one of your unnies. How did that happen?” Yonghwa asked.

“Oppa, do you see our silliness whenever we perform our songs on a show? How about you? When you perform as CNBLUE, didn’t you do it charismatically? That’s similar as to how Ara unnie does her job in MPY. When she’s working, she’ll do it professionally and when she’s at home, she can be her true self. The dorky unnie that I love,” Seohyun explained.

“Ah, that’s why. I’m just surprised. I should thank her for making an excuse for us to spend some time,” Yonghwa said.

“I already did,” Seohyun said.

“Hyun, when is your flight to Japan?” Yonghwa suddenly asked.

“Next week.”

“Do you have some time before your flight? I want to show you something.”

“We have a day-off. A day before our flight, we’re allowed to spend some time alone. I’m planning to spend the day with my parents,” Seohyun said.

“Can you spare me some time?” Yonghwa asked.

“Of course but Oppa, you don’t need to worry. We will only stay for a few days in Japan because of a schedule then we will go back here. I think we’ll be here in time for your comeback,” Seohyun said.

“Really? Then can you watch our comeback?” Yonghwa asked.

“When?”

“I still don’t know. Let me tell you when things are confirmed, alright?”

“Ok.”

“But I still want to show something so can we meet before your flight next week?” Yonghwa asked again.

“Sure. I’ll text you when will I be free. What do you want to show me?” Seohyun asked.

“It’s a surprise.”

“Ok.”

“You’ll definitely love it,” Yonghwa said.

“I can’t wait,” Seohyun replied.

They stay like that, hugging each other for a while. Both enjoying the given time for them because they know that it’ll be a long while before they can spend time together again. It’s the start of SNSD’s activities in Japan while Yonghwa will be busy promoting CNBLUE’s first album in Korea. They will be in two different places and the only mode of communication for them will be their phones and e-mail. So there they are, preparing themselves for whatever comes their way.

Chapter 3 – Screenings and First Kisses

“How was it?” Yonghwa questioned Hongki the minute he opened the door to their practice room. Hongki and his band, FT Island just went to the MPY screening and Yonghwa is eager to know what happen.

“It was fine,” Hongki tiredly said. He sat at one of the chair and took a gulp of water from his bottle.

“Hongki-yah, tell me some details. Was it hard? What did you do there?” Yonghwa fired his questions.

“Why are you asking so many questions? Are you nervous?” Hongki asked.

“Of course not,” Yonghwa said. “Ok, maybe a little,” he amended when he saw Hongki raised his left eyebrow in suspicion.

“You’re going to be fine. Just treat that as a normal gig. Like how you perform in music shows or events,” Hongki advised him.

“I want to know what happen. Did you just perform a song? How many songs did you perform? Did they ask many questions? Was there an interview or some thing like that?” Yonghwa continuously asked.

“Fine, I’ll answer all of your questions if you answer all of mine,” Hongki said.

“Just forget it,” Yonghwa said before standing up and getting his guitar to begin his warm-up exercises.

“Hey, that’s not fair,” Hongki complained.

“I know what you will ask so just forget it. I won’t talk about my relationship to someone as blabbermouth as you,” Yonghwa said while playing some chords.

“Fine, anyway why are you even asking me when you have a much more reliable source than me? I mean, Seohyun-ssi lives with her. She’s close to Director Min. Doesn’t she mention her when the two of you are on a date?” Hongki said watching Yonghwa play with his guitar.

“I don’t exactly pry for information about that. Hyun doesn’t know that we’re planning to take the screening tests and when she talks about her sisters and Director Min, it’s usually what they did or what her sisters said about me. Besides I don’t want Hyun to think that I’m taking advantage of our relationship,” Yonghwa seriously said.

“Well, that’s true. I asked Heechul hyung for some pointers but you know what he said?” Hongki asked.
“What?” Yonghwa asked.

“He said they didn’t know how Director Min does her screening tests. Not even one of them in SM even the other artists who passed. They were just informed if they passed or failed,” Hongki explained.

“What? They didn’t even tell why they pass or fail?” Yonghwa asked clearly confused as to how the process of the screening is.

“Heechul hyung thinks that Director Min meets those who passed or failed and then they will be informed of what happen. Usually you can ask those who pass that are not SM artists because you know that SM artists have a different screening. They will only be allowed to debut if they pass the screening so they don’t know how Director Min screens the artists in other company.”

“How about those who failed?”

“No artists or company that is in their right mind will admit that they failed the MPY screening. That will be a career suicide.”

“Really? That’s extreme don’t you think?”

“Yeah but luckily MPY only announces those who passed. They don’t reveal who failed or who took the tests.”

“So how was your audition?” Yonghwa asked.

“It’s fine. I didn’t know that Director Min will really come. I thought that there will be just representatives but there was only the director and her assistant. Then she asked us to play a song after that she asked some questions which are pretty basic information about us and then she said that the screening will took six months and that they will just inform us if we pass or fail.”

“How about the criteria?”

“That was the weird part. She said that 40% was for talent and 60% was for character. I don’t understand that part. How will she grade our character if she only met us once?”

“You’re right,” Yonghwa nodded. “Anyway I guess I just have to be ready for tomorrow. How was her personality?”

“That was the other weird part. Heechul hyung said that Min Ara’s personality is a lot like Seohyun-ssi. They are rational, logical, and innocent in some part while knowledgeable in the others and they are matured for their age.”

“How’s that weird? Of course they will have some similarities, they’ve been friends since training days,” Yonghwa said remembering that Seohyun once mentioned that.

“Well I didn’t see the logical, rational while innocent director there. She’s different,” Hongki said.

“How different?” Yonghwa asked.

“Her aura is different. She’s very charismatic. You know the vibe that the SM artists gave off whenever they perform. The ‘look at me I have talent as well as looks and I’m perfect’ vibe. That charisma plus the fact that she’s a director at the age of 21, it’s intimidating,” Hongki explained.

“I don’t understand,” Yonghwa said confused as to what Hongki is trying to say.

“You’ve watched SuJu performs right? SoShi too and Shinee as well as f(x) especially Boa sunbaenim and DBSK sunbaenim. All of them have this stage presence that I can’t describe. It’s like when they are on stage you’ll forget the other performances because you know that they will be the best. They give off this feeling of professionalism and pure talent merge into one. That’s what I felt when Min Ara entered the room.”

“She’s not an artist. She’s the director of the Min Branch of MPY. That branch basically controls the entertainment world so in other words she controls the whole entertainment world,” Yonghwa commented after hearing Hongki’s words.

“That’s just made it more intimidating,” Hongki exclaimed.

“You’re just scaring me,” Yonghwa said.

“I’m telling the truth,” Hongki said. “You’ll see it for yourself when you do the audition tomorrow.”

“Hyung!” They are interrupted when their band mates came rushing in the room.

“Here you are. We brought some foods. Let’s eat before we start our practice,” Jonghyun suggested.

“Hongki hyung you’re here too. How’s the audition?” Jungshin asked.

“It’s fine. I’ll go first. I have a schedule later. I need to get ready,” Hongki said before standing up and leaving the guys.

“See you later hyung!” Minhyuk shouted at Hongki’s retreating back.

“Let’s eat!” Jonghyun said before devouring the snacks.

----------------

The next day….

“Ara unnie, will you watch our rehearsals today?” Seohyun asked her while they are preparing for their breakfast.

“I’ll try. I have some meetings and then auditions to watch for. Maybe after that I’ll go to your rehearsals,” Ara answered while eating her cereals. Seohyun eyed the food and try to take it away from Ara.

“Unnie, you need to have a nutritious food especially on breakfast. Here drink this,” Seohyun said handing her Ma juice.

“I don’t drink Ma, Hyunnie. How many times do I have to tell you that?” Ara said before she drinks some orange juice for herself.

“But Unnie….”

“Maknae, don’t bother forcing Ara to drink the juice. You know she’s just as stubborn as you are,” Yuri said when she entered their kitchen and saw the two maknaes arguing again for the nth time.

“Yuri unnie, good morning. Thanks for saving me there,” Ara offered some cereals for Yuri but the latter declined.

“I just don’t want you two to start arguing again. But you know that I agree with Seohyun. You should start eating more nutritious foods. Stop being picky when you eat,” Yuri lectured Ara.

“I know Unnie. I’ll try little by little, ok?” Ara said pacifying her Unnie. The two of them continue to eat while Seohyun went to wake the other unnies up.

“Your phone’s ringing,” Fany said entering their kitchen and handing Ara her phone before sitting and starting her breakfast.

“Hello? Yoon-shik oppa? You’re downstairs already? Ok. I’m ready. I’ll just finish my breakfast then I’ll come down. Do you want something? Ok, see you later,” Ara said talking to her assistant.

“What are you doing today?” Fany asked Ara.

“I’ll attend some meetings and auditions then I’ll watch your rehearsals,” Ara answered.

“Who will be auditioning? Do we know them?” Yuri asked.

“I’m not allowed to tell you who take the screening tests. I’m only allowed to tell you who passed,” Ara explained for the millionth time. Honestly, her unnies never listen. They never get tired of questioning her regarding those who take the screening tests even though she already explained that she can’t divulge that information.

“Come on Ara, you’re the director and we’re family. Shouldn’t you share those things to us?” Fany said smiling at her.

“I can’t Unnie. I promised that I can only tell those who passed. It’ll be unfair for the participants. Besides, the artists are free to tell if they took the exam. Try asking some artists,” Ara suggested.

“You know very well that they won’t admit that they took the test if they failed. No one will tell us,” Yuri said.

“I can’t. I’m sorry. Anyway I need to go. I have many meetings today. See you later,” Ara said standing up and taking her bag before she went out.

The meetings were endless that day. Ara went to one meeting to another. By the time that the meetings ended, it was past lunch time so she decided to just eat in her next destination, the audition.

“Who will take the audition today?” Ara asked before reading the file that Yoonshik handed to her. She was surprised to see CNBLUE in the lists. Seohyun didn’t mention that Yonghwa will take the exam. Perhaps, she didn’t know. “Are they here?” Ara asked Yoonshik.

“They arrived fifteen minutes earlier.”

“Ok, let’s go,” Ara said before she entered the studio.

“Anyonghaseyo, CNBLUE imnida!” Yonghwa and the kids greeted the director and her assistant. Yonghwa’s mind just went blank. ‘Hongki was right,’ he thought upon seeing Director Min. Her aura is really intimidating.

Ara sat in the seat in front of the boys. She continued to read the file which made the boys more nervous. They just stand there waiting for instructions.

“Good afternoon. I’m sorry if I’m late. So you’re here to audition for MPY. I just want you to take note of the following details. Secretary Kim,” Ara motion for Yoonshik to explain.

“Good afternoon, I’m Kim Yoonshik, assistant of Director Min. I’m here to explain some important details regarding this screening. First, as you may have read from the agreement that we gave you earlier, MPY will only announce to the media those who pass. The artists, however, are free to tell anyone of their choice about this test. MPY assures you that we won’t divulge any information regarding your audition and what transpired in it. The screening will take six months and after that we will have a meeting for you to know if you pass or fail. The criteria for judgment are 40% talent and 60% character. After this initial audition, we will monitor all of your activities to measure if you deserve to join the ranks of artists that MPY endorses. When we say activities, it’s not just your entertainment activities but all of your activities for the following months until the end of the screening. After that, we will evaluate the result and then we will inform you. With that being said, good luck and we hope that you pass the test and if you do we will be honored to endorse you,” Yoonshik explained smiling at the four. He is excited to see the result of CNBLUE’s audition.

“Do you have any questions?” Yoonshik asked the group. He motion for Yonghwa to ask since he raised his arms.

“I’m just curious about your criteria of judgment. Can you explain that more further?” Yonghwa asked nervously. Min Ara looked up from the documents that she’s reading and then she proceeds to study Yonghwa.

“That’s always the question that I usually hear whenever we do the screening,” Ara commented. “First, I believe that what molds an artist is their talent and character. That’s the measurement of how good you are at what you do. You can be so talented yet lacking in the character department and vice versa. What we’re looking for is the complete package. Those who excel in their fields of specialty with a character that helps them in achieving whatever things they want to achieve. You may notice that the character has more points than talent and you may be wondering why. Am I correct?”

Jungshin and Minhyuk nodded clearly transfixed at what the director is saying. Meanwhile, Yonghwa marvels at how Min Ara delivers her mini speech with such authority that you can’t help but listen attentively.

“I decided to give character a much more consideration especially when it comes to grading entertainers. You can hone your talents until your perfect but character will be with you. Your character defines how human you are. It shows how you will respond to things that may or may not go your way. You can develop talent but you can’t change your character. I mean, you can change some of your attitudes but there will still be some that will be left in you. Your character as well as personality defines you. That’s what you are already and we here in MPY only want those who have an outstanding talent as well as remarkable character. I believe that artists who have both will definitely have a big future in the entertainment world and I will be honored to say that I was one of their supporters. Another thing is once you passed the MPY endorsement, you will be endorsed by MPY for as long as you like. We can help you in every aspect of your life and not just your job as an entertainer. That’s the reason why we are very particular in choosing the artists that we will endorse. I don’t want to make a mistake and chose an artist that I will just regret choosing in the first place. Any other questions?”

“None,” Yonghwa answered for the boys.

“Let’s start. Why don’t you play your favorite song? And when I say favorite song, I mean the band’s favorite song, not just Jung Yonghwa-ssi’s or Jungshin-ssi’s. The band’s favorite song,” Ara instructed as she settled in her seat, readying herself for the performance.

Yonghwa and the boys decided to play I’m a loner. It’s the group’s favorite song and the song is special for them because it is their debut song.

“Interesting,” Ara commented when CNBLUE started playing. She listens attentively, careful to notice the smallest thing that they do. She studied each member and took down some notes. When the boys finished the song, she asked again for them to play another song. After their performance, Ara asked them some questions and the boys answered them as best as they can. Ara proceeded then to explain some important details about the audition and that’s it, CNBLUE’s initial test was finished. They said their goodbyes and Ara and Yoonshik were left in the room.

“Well?” Yoonshik asked.

“They are interesting,” Ara answered.

“They have potential and they played their debut song as their favorite song,” Yoonshik commented.

“I know. I was there.”

“That’s it. All you can say is that they are interesting?”

“It’s still too early to decide. Let’s wait after six months and see what they got.”

“Ara-yah, I’m warning you. Don’t mix your personal affairs in your professional affairs.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I know you and your protective streak. Just because Yonghwa is Seohyun’s boyfriend doesn’t mean that you can grill him and give CNBLUE a hard time. Go with the usual procedures and don’t get involve with their personal life. That’s none of your business.”

“Joohyun is my business. I’m her sister but I know you’re right so I won’t give them a hard time. I’ll go with the procedures BUT I’ll be watching them more closely,” Ara said before standing up and leaving her assistant.

-----------------
“That went well,” Jungshin said.

“Yeah,” Minhyuk answered absentmindedly.

“She’s different,” Jonghyun joined the conversation.

“What do you mean, Hyung?” Jungshin asked.

“I don’t know. She’s just different.”

“Her presence is something. I feel like I met some kind of a royalty or a president’s daughter or something like that,” Minhyuk commented.

“You kinda did. She’s the daughter of Min Dong Jae, the second richest man in the world. Of course she has some royalty aura,” Jungshin said.

“But she doesn’t look like she’s conceited. She seems normal,” Minhyuk argued. “That’s strange.”

“Not all rich people are conceited Minhyuk. But you know what’s strange?” Jungshin said.

“What?”

“Min Ara is one of Seohyun’s closest friends but she didn’t even ask Yonghwa hyung anything about Seohyun. She didn’t even try to interrogate him.

“You’re right. Other SM artists especially SNSD members always asked us about Yonghwa hyung’s intentions towards Seohyun but Min Ara even pretended not to know.”

“Maybe she doesn’t know?”

“She knows,” Yonghwa said also joining the conversation. He’s been so quiet after the audition.

“She knows? Then why pretend not to know?” Jungshin wondered.

“She’s not pretending. I think she just wants to focus on the audition. She’s there as the Director of MPY not as Seohyun’s friend,” Jonghyun said.

“Maybe you’re right,” Yonghwa nodded.

------------------
Later that evening, in SNSD’s apartment’s back entrance….

“Oppa?” Seohyun said while playing with Yonghwa’s hands. She’s been writing little characters on his palms for a while. It’s been her favorite thing to do since they got together.

“Yes?”

“How was your day?” Seohyun asked him.

“It was tiring. As usual,” Yonghwa answered while he plays with the strands of Seohyun’s hair. They’ve been sitting in his car talking about everything and nothing. They’ve been doing this for the past weeks since they started dating. “How about yours?”

“We just did some CF shooting and rehearsals. Our Japan activities were pushed back because of the disaster.”

“I went to the MPY screening today. I met Director Min,” Yonghwa said after a short silence.

“Really?”

“Why are you so shocked? Didn’t you know?” Yonghwa asked noting of Seohyun’s expressions.

“Ara unnie doesn’t tell us who took the tests. She only tells us those who passed. Well usually we know who will pass because Ara unnie will tell us beforehand but aside from that we know nothing.”

“Really? I thought you knew.”

“Ara unnie is very trustworthy. If she said that she won’t tell then she really won’t tell. She stays true to her word that’s why I trust her,” Seohyun said smiling at him. “How was the audition? Tell me everything. You’re the first person that I know who admitted taking the MPY tests.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, it’s common that artists who took the exam will wait for the results. If they passed then they will tell that they took the exam but they don’t give enough details. Those who failed don’t admit that they too took the exam. You’re the first person that admitted taking the exam without waiting for the results.”

“Really? MPY endorsement is very prestigious so I guess it’s normal not to admit taking the test if you fail,” Yonghwa said thinking aloud.

“So, tell me. How was it?” Yonghwa ended up telling her what happen. He answered all of her questions.

“Aahhh so that’s how Ara unnie does the screen tests. I wonder how she will monitor you in six months,” Seohyun said upon hearing all about the audition.

“I’m wondering too. Don’t you feel that it’s strange having only talent and character in the criteria? Also the percentages?” Yonghwa asked eager to know Seohyun’s reaction.

“No I don’t think that’s strange. Ara unnie is very picky in everything including friends. I guess it’s normal that she’ll do that in the endorsement too,” Seohyun said still playing with Yonghwa’s hands.

“Aaahhh. How about the percentage?” Yonghwa asked.

“I don’t know. I’ll ask her later.”

“Won’t she be angry if she knew that I told you?”

“Of course not. I haven’t seen Ara unnie get angry. She’s never been angry at me. She usually lets me have my way because I’m younger than her. She’s very generous,” Seohyun said giving him her eye smile.

“She’s spoiling you,” Yonghwa commented.

“Everyone’s spoiling me including you but don’t worry I know my limitations,” Seohyun said. “Anyways, I’m curious too about how she will do the tests.”

“Enough about the tests and MPY. Let’s talk about something else,” Yonghwa said inching closer to Seohyun. They’ve been talking for some time now and seriously having her near him in this confined space is wrecking havoc in his senses not to mention the goose bumps that he’s having with her playing with his palms.

“What about?” Seohyun innocently asked. She unconsciously lean forward too when she saw Yonghwa leaning towards her.

“About us. I miss you,” Yonghwa said reaching for Seohyun’s hair and playing with it.

“Aahhh. Oppa, stop it,” Seohyun whined.

“What? I’m telling the truth,” Yonghwa said before pulling Seohyun close to him and putting his arms around her shoulder ending up to hugging her. Up until now, he’s only allowed to hold her hands and occasionally hug her. Their relationship is still a lot like when they were in WGM. Slow and steady but still lacking in skinship. Tonight, he’s planning to move to the next level, if he’s lucky that is.

“Oppa?” Seohyun called him softly while she rested her head on his shoulder and returned his hug.

“Yes?”

“I miss you, too,” Seohyun whispered. Hearing that made Yonghwa’s heart flutter. He loves hearing Seohyun say sweet things to him. Although she never initiated telling him ‘I love you’s and I miss you’s’ but whenever he hears her say ‘I love you too and I miss you too’ after he said that to her was enough to make him go straight to heaven.

He pulled away and rested his hands on her shoulder. Looking at her eyes, he still can’t believe that this amazing girl right in front of him is his girlfriend. That this girl staring at him is his.

“Hyun,” Yonghwa called her leaning towards her again. He saw Seohyun’s eyes get large when she notices that he’s not going to hug her but that he’s planning on doing something else.

“Oppa?” Seohyun said when Yonghwa’s face is only inches away from her.

“Yes?” Yonghwa asked still looking closely at Seohyun’s eyes, searching to see signs that will tell him that she’s not alright.

“I don’t know how to do what you’re planning to do,” Seohyun said blushing madly.

“What am I planning to do, Hyun?” Yonghwa asked teasing her. He loves seeing her blush.

“I don’t know,” Seohyun answered diverting her eyes and looking down.

“Hyun, look at me,” Yonghwa said putting both of his hands on her cheeks.

“Do you remember how you improve with snowboarding with just one day of lesson from me?” Yonghwa asked when Seohyun finally looked at his eyes. Seohyun nodded remembering their ski trip.

“I’m a very good teacher and you know what?” Yonghwa asked while caressing both of her cheeks.

“W-h-what?” Seohyun asked nervously. She feels that her heart will jump out of her chest any minute now. Having Yonghwa in close proximity is rendering her brain useless. All she can think is how good it feels to have his hands on her and how his caresses is making her seems like flying in the clouds.

“Kissing is a lot like snowboarding,” Yonghwa said before pausing a little to give emphasis to what he’s about to say. “You do it by feel,” Yonghwa whispered before finally kissing her.

His kiss was soft. He gently place his lips on hers waiting for some kind of reaction. He opened his eyes to see Seohyun closing hers and that’s when he starts to really kiss her. He nibbles her lower lip while pulling her closer, angling his face so not to bump their noses. He presses soft kisses on her lips, nibbling and nibbling until he felt Seohyun relaxes. His hands went down touching her cheeks to her jaw down to her neck and shoulders and finally resting on her elbows. He pulled her arms and wrapped it around his neck before resting his own to her waist without taking his lips away from hers. He pulled her closer while enduring the uncomfortable position he was in because of the space between their car seats. When he pressed some kisses on her jaw going to her ears, he hears her gasp. Yonghwa seized the opportunity of Seohyun opening her lips and kissed her, harder this time and with more passion.

Seohyun doesn’t know how to handle the assault of all of these new but definitely good feelings on her. All she’s rendered to do was feel and feel. When she tried to return the kisses that Yonghwa is giving her by following what he’s doing, she heard him moan and kissed her harder which made her heart beat faster. She never knew that first kiss felt like this. Whenever she watched dramas and movies with her unnies, she doesn’t understand why they will gush about hugs and kisses. She doesn’t get it either when they tell that they are envious and want to feel that way. How will they know if they want that feeling when they didn’t even know what the feeling was? But now sitting here in Yonghwa’s car with his arms around her and his lips all over her face, she doesn’t want it to end. The sensations that Yonghwa’s kisses gave her was nerve-wrecking in a good way. She can’t help but wish that he won’t stop. So in return she tried to kiss him the way he’s kissing her although with a little bit of clumsiness. It’s her first time after all.

A minute later, Yonghwa pulled away from Seohyun. He tried to relax and breathe normally while resting his head on her shoulder.

“I love you,” Yonghwa whispered before kissing her cheeks and hugging her again.

“I love you too, Oppa,” Seohyun answered. She is having a hard time composing herself with Yonghwa’s hands caressing her back so she just stayed there and let him do what he’s doing. When he pulled away, she smiled at him and help him fixed his hair.

“How was the lesson?” Yonghwa cheekily asked purposely teasing her.

“It was very…..educational,” Seohyun answered before blushing madly. “Stop looking at me like that,” she whined when she notices Yonghwa’s stares.

“What? How am I looking at you?” Yonghwa asked smiling at her.

“Like you want to eat me alive,” Seohyun said looking away when she heard Yonghwa bursting into laughter upon hearing her answer.

“Seo Joohyun, you’re really something,” Yonghwa said still laughing at her.

“I’m going,” Seohyun said but Yonghwa stopped her.

“Wait, I’m just kidding. Look at me,” Yonghwa said holding her chin and making her face his way.

“What?”

“I love you,” Yonghwa said.

“I know. You told me that already,” Seohyun said smiling at him.

“Do you love me?” Yonghwa asked.

“Of course. I love you too, Yonghwa oppa,” Seohyun said humoring Yonghwa’s childishness. “I need to go Oppa. It’s getting late.”

“Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow?” Yonghwa asked.

“Ok. Ah! Taeyeon unnie wants you to join us for dinner tomorrow. She said that it’s dangerous for us to stay here in the car because some of our fans and press people usually loiter around here so she wants us to stay in the dorm instead,” Seohyun said remembering her Unnie’s words.

“But the others will be there. I don’t want to disturb them,” Yonghwa said.

“It’s more likely that they will disturb us but don’t worry, Taeyeon unnie also said that she’ll control the other unnies and she’ll make sure that we will have our privacy,” Seohyun said. “What do you think?”

“Well, I guess it’s not a bad idea. I agree that it’s not safe here and I am also thinking of other places where we can meet but since Taeyeon-ssi offered your dorm then who am I to decline?” Yonghwa said holding her hands and intertwining their fingers. “But what do you mean about dinner?”

“Unnie wants you to join us to eat. I guess you can call it late dinner or something. She wants us to formally introduce ourselves as a couple I think,” Seohyun said reassuring him.

“With your other members?” Yonghwa asked.

“Don’t worry. It’ll be just us SNSD there.”

“How about Director Min?”

“Ara unnie will be there. She’s our tenth member. Our secret weapon,” Seohyun said. “It’ll be fine Oppa.”

“If you say so,” Yonghwa said finally agreeing.

“Call me when you get home ok?” Seohyun said before opening the door.

“Hey, where’s my goodbye kiss?” Yonghwa said stopping her and successfully making her blush again

“Haven’t you had enough?” Seohyun said feeling her cheeks reddening.

“I won’t have enough when it concerns you,” Yonghwa said.

“Ahhhhh! Oppa you’re so cheesy,” Seohyun said.

“Don’t change the subject. My goodbye kiss,” Yonghwa said closing his eyes and pouting his lips.

“Ah cham!” Seohyun said before kissing his cheeks and hurriedly opening the door and getting out of the car.

“Hey that’s cheating!” Yonghwa called her.

“Goodnight Oppa. Drive safely,” Seohyun said before finally closing the door and entering her apartment building.

“Seo Joohyun, you’ll be the death of me,” Yonghwa whispered looking at Seohyun’s retreating back before starting the car and driving home.

When Seohyun emerged from the back entrance and saw Yonghwa’s car, she suddenly felt like she’s back at the MBC lobby meeting him for the first time. She can easily see his silhouette in the car and that made her more nervous.

Yonghwa saw Seohyun walking towards him so he immediately unlock the door and open it.

“Hi,” Yonghwa greeted her awkwardly after she settled herself into a comfortable sitting position.

“Hi, Oppa,” Seohyun greeted him back. The ever present awkwardness surrounds them inside the car. Seohyun fidgeted and decided to play with the hem of her shirt.

“Uhm…Well,” Yonghwa started to say something after a couple minutes of silence.

“What Oppa?” Seohyun asked focusing her attention to Yonghwa.

“I’m sorry I’m late and thank you for waiting. I wasn’t sure if you fell asleep already or what since it took me a long time to get back,” Yonghwa apologizes while staring at the front and gripping the steering wheels.

“That’s fine, Oppa,” Seohyun said also looking at the front and avoiding eye contact to him.

“So, what did you do while waiting?” Yonghwa said trying to engage Seohyun into some small talks first to lessen the awkwardness.

“Well…I sat on my living room trying to take some rest and then Ara Unnie came out and saw me. We talked. You do know Ara Unnie right?” Seohyun answered while playing with her hands.

“Yeah I know her, I haven’t met her though. So what did you talk about?” Yonghwa said before finally looking at Seohyun.

“Just some things,” Seohyun said purposely keeping from Yonghwa the things that she and her Unnie talked about.

“Things?” Yonghwa asked.

“Yes, things. Girl things, Oppa,” Seohyun answered before looking at him for the first time since she entered the car.

“I see,” Yonghwa said smiling at her.

“Did you come here alone?” Seohyun asked after another minute of silence.

“No, I came with my manager,” Yonghwa answered.

“Where is he then?” Seohyun asked while trying to look around for Yonghwa’s manager.

“He left. He said he’ll take a walk somewhere. I’m supposed to call him later,” Yonghwa explained.

“I see,” Seohyun said before going back to playing with the hem of her shirt.

“Joohyun-ah,” Yonghwa called her.

“Ne, Oppa.”

“I said earlier that I want us to talk, right?” Yonghwa asked her.

“Ne, Oppa.”

“So….”

“Did you mean it?” Seohyun asked.

“Mean what?” Yonghwa asked back.

“The one that you wrote…. In the card….”

“Of course I mean it. I wouldn’t write it if I didn't mean it,” Yonghwa said before taking her hands and intertwining it with his. “You do know the reason why I’m here, right?”

“You want to tell me something as well as ask me something,” Seohyun answered softly. Her face is blushing because of Yonghwa’s hold on her hands.

“Yes,” Yonghwa answered while slowly tracing some small circles on Seohyun’s hands. “Joohyun-ah, look at me.” Seohyun looked at him and saw those brown eyes those brown eyes that seems to penetrate her soul whenever she looked at it.

“What is it Oppa?” Seohyun asked him while also staring at his eyes.

There they sat. Face to face. Eye to eye. Palm to palm and hopefully heart to heart. They both know that they are in a crossroad. Happiness or dreams.

“I like you. I think I’m in love with you and I want you to be mine. So…will….you….be….mine?” Yonghwa asked looking closely at her.

“What did you like about me, Oppa?” Seohyun asked back.

“Beats me. All I know is that I like you and I’m willing to do everything to make you like me too,” Yonghwa answered before moving closer to her. “So…will you answer my question?”

“Aren’t you afraid, Oppa? Of the consequences of our actions?” Seohyun asked innocently after a few minutes of silence.

“I’m terrified but you know what?”

“What, Oppa?”

“I’m sure I can handle anything as long as I know you’re by my side,” Yonghwa said holding her hands tighter.

“Really?”

“Really.” Yonghwa said nodding sincerely. “Hyun, I’m dying here. Will you be mine or not?” Yonghwa asked her again when Seohyun fell into another silence obviously thinking very seriously.

“Of course. How can you even ask me that? Shouldn’t you know that by now? Why will I wait for you if I didn’t like you back?” Seohyun smilingly said before she was engulfed by Yonghwa’s embrace. She hugged him back just as tightly.

“You just made me the happiest man on earth,” Yonghwa whispered, smoothing her hair and resting his forehead on her shoulder. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, Oppa,” Seohyun said awkwardly hugging him. She doesn’t know where to put her hands so she just settled one on his waist and the other on his back softly tapping it. She rests her head on his shoulder.

Hugging Seohyun felt so surreal for Yonghwa. In fact, everything felt so surreal for him. It’s like he’s in this dream and any moment he will be woken up by one of boys. He will open his eyes and see the familiar surroundings if his room. He can’t believe that he’s here, hugging her. He’s here and she is finally his girlfriend.

“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you,” Yonghwa continuously muttered.

“Are you going to say thank you all night, Oppa?” Seohyun giggles when she heard him.

“Well, I am thankful,” Yonghwa said before untangling himself from her. He puts his hands on her cheeks and continues to smile at her.

“You really are happy,” Seohyun commented upon seeing Yonghwa’s giddy face.

“I am. I told you. You just made me the happiest man on earth,” Yonghwa said caressing her cheeks.

“Ahhh. You are so cheesy,” Seohyun said crunching her nose. “Stop it!”

“Why? It’s more fun that way,” Yonghwa said teasing her.

“You’re right,” Seohyun agreed while laughing at him.

“Why are you laughing?” Yonghwa asked.

“You’re funny, Oppa,” Seohyun said while trying to stop her laughter.

“I love you,” Yonghwa said while playing with the strands of her hair.

“I…I….l-l-love…..you too,” Seohyun whispered. She can feel her own cheeks turning red upon her own confession.

“You’re so cute,” Yonghwa said pinching both of her cheeks before hugging her again.

“Ah cham! Oppa!” Seohyun managed to whine before she succumbed into Yonghwa’s embrace.

Meanwhile at the dorm…..

Ara was surprised to see her Unnie still up and sitting at her own bed.

“Fany Unnie? What do you think you’re doing?” Ara asked.

“You wait there,” Fany said before standing up and leaning her ears to their door. “Is Seohyun still there?”

“What? What are you talking about?” Ara tried to ask her while stirring her away from the door.

“I think I hear the front door again. Did she go out?” Fany asked no one in particular and then she began texting. A moment later, seven girls suddenly went inside their room.

“Where is she?”

“She arrived earlier.”

“She’s not in our room.”

“I heard the front door open and then it closes again.”

“Maybe, she went out.”

“Why would she go out if she just arrived?”

“Unnie!” Ara shouted instantly shutting her sisters. “What do you think you’re doing? Shouldn’t you all be sleeping? Why are you here in our room?”

“Did you talk to her? Where is she going?” Tiffany asked her while the other sit comfortable in their beds.

“Yeah, I talked to her. I saw her when I went to get something to drink. She’s in the living room sitting and staring at nothing so I went and sit with her after that I went inside our room and then Fany Unnie texted you all,” Ara explained still confused as to what’s really happening.

“Did she tell you something? What was her expression?”

“Was she sad?”

“Was she smiling?”

“What did you talk about?”

“Did she tell you what Yonghwa did?”

“Did Yonghwa confessed?”

“Tell us everything.”

“You’re telling me that all of you were still up because you want to interrogate Hyunnie again? Give it a rest. She’s obviously tired,” Ara said stopping her Unnie’s endless rants.

“She has a funny way of showing it. She just went out. Again,” Jessica said speaking for the first time.

“Well….” Ara tried to say something when she was interrupted again.

“What did you talk about when you saw her at the living room?” Taeyeon asked her calmly.

“Unnie, maybe you should just ask Seohyun herself,” Ara suggested trying to escape their prying questions.

“Yah! You’re keeping secrets,” Sooyoung accusingly said to her.

“Unnie!” Ara whined. “I’m tired. Can we have this conversation in another time? Maybe tomorrow?”

“Don’t try to escape. Spill everything,” Sunny said.

“Fine. I went out and saw her. I sat with her and she asked me some things. I answered her,” Ara said.

“What did she say?” Yuri asked.

“She said she’s confused. She’s there sitting pondering what she will do,” Ara answered. ‘This is going to take a long night,’ Ara thought as she looked at her sister’s faces.

“Why is she confused? What happen in their filming?” Yoona asked.

“Well, apparently Yonghwa gave her a pink guitar, an enormous stuff toy and a bouquet of roses with a card in it. He also texted her the minute the filming wrapped,” Ara said.

“What’s in the card?” Tiffany excitedly asked.

“I love you,” Ara whispered but they heard it anyway.

“What?”

“How romantic.”

“I didn’t know he had it in him.”

“Oohhh…..”

“Oh my god! This is totally exciting.”

“More exciting than watching movies and tv shows.”

“Of course, it’s in real life that’s why it’s more interesting.”

“Looks like our maknae will be the first to have a boy friend.”

“Not exactly, Ara has one.”

“He’s not counted.”

“Why?”

“Just because. Anyway, it’s not like Ara is having a hard time hiding her relationship. The whole world knows. It’s different with our situation.”

“Unnie, we’re talking about Hyunnie here, not me,” Ara annoyingly said.

“Right, so what else? Spill everything,” Sooyoung ordered her.

“That’s it,” Ara said.

“You’re lying,” Jessica said.

“No I’m not,” Ara denied avoiding looking at her sisters.

“Min Ara,” Taeyeon called her.

“Ne Unnie,” Ara answered finally looking at her Unnies.

“Tell us,” Jessica coldy said.

“You know we all want the best for Hyunnie right? So why won’t you tell us?” Sunny said obviously trying to trap her into talking.

“Now that you’re finished with the threatening part, you’re in the guilt trip part. Honestly, Unnie-deul, you will do everything,” Ara exasperatedly said.

“Just tell us,” Yuri said close to losing patience.

“Alright. She said that she’s afraid and confused so I help her sort out her feelings. I told her I will help her. She just needs to be honest to herself and accept that she’s already fallen in love. That’s it,” Ara said.

“But you’re in there for a long time,” Tiffany said.

“Yeah, I’m talking to Seohyun. You know how hard it is to make her talk about something. We basically just sat there quietly for a very long time before she started talking,” Ara explained.

“So? What will happen next? Where is she now?” Sooyoung asked her.

“I guess she went downstairs,” Ara said.

“Why would she do that? Are they meeting or something?” Yuri asked.

“Yonghwa texted her to wait. He said that he’ll just return to the company to tell them that the filming is finished then he will go back. I guess he’s back and they are already talking,” Ara explained.

“That’s so romantic,” Sooyoung gushes falling into Yoona’s shoulder.

“So they are officially dating,” Taeyeon concluded.

“And what do you call what they are doing for a year? Playing around?” Jessica sarcastically asked.

“No but they are in the show at the time and they haven’t put any label as to what they are doing. They’re trying to delude themselves believing that they are just doing that for the show,” Sunny said.

“Now they are together, finally,” Sooyoung said.

“Isn’t that sweet?” Hyoyeon said smiling giddily.

“It seems like you’ll be having a hard time sleeping. You’ll be the first to know what happens now that they are dating, Hyo,” Taeyeon said.

“As long as she’s happy. I can deal with the insomnia,” Hyoyeon said earning laughter from the girls.

“I can’t believe that our maknae is grown up,” Sunny said.

“Yeah and she just got her very first boy friend. She beats us all,” Sooyoung added.

“Never underestimate the maknae,” Yoona said and they all laugh again, happy that their youngest found her love.

A moment later, they heard someone open the front door.

“She’s back,” Tiffany said.

“What should we do?” Sooyoung asked panicking. The girls all went to the door and Sunny open the door quietly, looking at Seohyun.

“She’ll know something is up if she saw that Hyoyeon is not in their room,” Taeyeon said.

“Let’s wait until she went inside her room then Hyoyeon can go after her and tell her she just went to the bathroom,” Sunny suggested.

“I can’t see….Ahhhhh!” Yuri said before she accidentally pushes the girls resulting to them tumbling outside the room. For a moment, no one said anything and they just look at Seohyun who was looking at them too obviously surprised to see her Unnies on the floor.

“Unnie-deul?” Seohyun tentatively asked.

“Annyong, Seohyun-ah,” Hyoyeon awkwardly said while all of the girls struggle to stand up and fix themselves.

“What are you doing?” Seohyun asked looking at them closely.

“Well….you see….” Ara tried to explain.

“We’re having an emergency meeting,” Sunny saved her from answering.

“Emergency meeting? Without me?” Seohyun asked again.

“Well….you see…..Hyunnie….”Sunny stammers and then elbows Taeyeon for help.

“You’re not yet here so we decided to proceed with the meeting and that we will just inform you of the outcome,” Taeyeon tried to explain.

“What is the meeting all about?” Seohyun asked.

“Uhm…it’s about….uhm….we think that uhm…..since we’re all busy…..ahhh…we decided to…..,” Tiffany slowly said obviously thinking for an excuse to give Seohyun.

“Unnie, tell me. I know you’re not talking about our schedules,” Seohyun said.

“Fine, we’re just asking Ara some questions,” Hyoyeon confessed.

“Asking? More like interrogating. Seriously, Unnie-deul is worse than the private investigators,” Ara mumbles.

“Min Ara,” Jessica warned Ara.

“Questions? What kind of questions?” Seohyun asked. “Ara Unnie?”

“They asked me what happen between you and Yonghwa and you know how scary they are so I have no choice but tell them everything,” Ara said earning the glares from her Unnies.

“Why didn’t you just ask me yourself?” Seohyun asked secretly smiling at her Unnies. It’s really rare to see her Unnie speechless and looking like children who were caught stealing a cookie in a jar.

“We don’t want to overwhelm you. It’s hard to talk when there are nine girls asking you a thousand questions,” Taeyeon explained.

“Hey, you didn’t consider that when you interrogate me earlier. I have eight scary Unnies breathing down my neck earlier,” Ara complained upon hearing Taeyeon’s explanation.

“Correction, seven Unnies and one dongsaeng,” Yoona said pointing to herself as the dongsaeng.

“Yes, that’s right,” Ara said.

“Aren’t you stopping Min Ara?” Jessica warned.

“Unnie!” Ara whined and pouted.

“You’re all funny, Unnie-deul,” Seohyun said before bursting into giggles. “I’m fine. You could just ask me and not torture Ara Unnie.”

“We didn’t exactly torture her,” Yuri said shrugging her shoulders.

“So? What happen, Hyunnie?” Tiffany finally asked.

Seohyun smiled before telling her Unnies everything. They squealed and laughed at the same time clearly enjoying Seohyun’s love story. In short, it’s been a long but enjoyable night in Soshi’s dorm and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

------------------

Yonghwa went home feeling like he owned the whole world. His cheeks are bursting with happiness, his smile won’t just go away and his steps have a little bounce in it. He has all the signs of a man in love and he’s basking in it.

The moment he opened the door, he was surrounded by the boys like how vultures surround their prey. It seems like the boys waited for him to deliver the news.

“How was it, Hyung?” Jungshin asked first not even letting him sit on the couch.

“Hyung! I’ve clean your room. Look, it’s sparkling,” Minhyuk joined them followed by Jonghyun.

“So? Hyung, tell us everything. What happen?” Jungshin asked continuously while Minhyuk took Yonghwa’s bags and set it aside.

“It was…..” Yonghwa paused seeing the looks from his dongsaengs. “None of your business.”

“Hyung!” the three protested.

“You said that it is our business since we will be affected whatever happens in your relationship so tell us already,” Jungshin complained.

“When did I say that?” Yonghwa asked feigning ignorance. He is having fun seeing his dongsaeng eager for the news.

“Hyung!” Minhyuk said while Jonghyun just laugh at them.

“Jonghyun Hyung, help us,” Jungshin asked for help.

“Isn’t it clear that it went well?” Jonghyun finally said smiling at his hyung. “Congratulations, Yonghwa hyung.”

“Huh? How did you know? Did you tell Jonghyun beforehand?” Minhyuk asked.

“Pabo-yah. It’s obvious that Seohyun accepted him because if she didn’t, we’d be dealing with a groveling and miserable Yonghwa right now,” Jonghyun explained.

“Yah! What do you mean by groveling and miserable?” Yonghwa asked.

“I’m just explaining hyung,” Jonghyun quickly back-pedalled.

“Is it true? Are you dating now?” Jungshin eagerly asked.

“What do you think?” Yonghwa asked back.

“Hyung!” Jungshin whined.

“I’m sleepy. Why don’t you guys take your much deserve rest? We have a busy schedule tomorrow,” Yonghwa said standing up and walking towards his room.

“Andwae! You’re not sleeping until you tell us what happen,” Jungshin stopped his hyung.

“Fine, we’re dating. Satisfied?” Yonghwa said before stepping out of Jungshin’s way and opening his room.

“Wow! Hyung! I’m proud of you,” Jungshin said clapping his hands and cheering loudly.

“Alright stop it. We need to take our rest to Jungshin stop now,” Yonghwa said grinning at them.

“Sleep well hyung!” Minhyuk said.

“Yes, you too. Take your rest. I need you, three to be energized for tomorrow,” Yonghwa said trying to be a leader while failing to hide his smile.

“Good night,” Jonghyun called.

“Good night indeed,” Yonghwa whispered before lying on his bed and trying to get some sleep. ‘I’ll see you in my dreams, Hyu~n,” Yonghwa whispered before closing his eyes.

Chapter 1 – Acceptance and Resolutions

It’s neither the first time that she wished that the night won’t end nor the first time that she hoped that time stood still but this is the first time that she yearned for the power to do so. As she said her goodbyes and bowed for the last time, she muster all of her strength to turn away, believing that they have their time, their very own time without the prying eyes and listening ears of the others, to talk and say the things that they can’t say earlier.

She doesn’t know how long she’s sitting in their living room. She didn’t even bother opening the lights. The darkness and silence represents what she’s feeling inside. She didn’t even hear the sound of one of the doors opening. She just keeps on staring at her cell phone as well as the card that she received earlier together with the bouquet of flowers.

“Hyunnie, is that you?” Did you just get in?” she’s startled to see one of her Unnies looking at her worriedly.

“Ne Unnie,” she answered absent-mindedly still staring at the card.

“Why didn’t you open the lights? Is something bothering you?” her Unnie asked her before sitting together with her in the couch.

“I’m not so sure,” she said dejectedly. She waits for her Unnie to say something but the latter just remains sitting quietly. Perhaps she’s waiting for her to say something too.

“Today is our last filming day,” Seohyun said after a few minutes of silence.

“I know. Hyoyeon Unnie told me earlier,” her Unnie said looking at her closely.

“Then why aren’t you asking me a thousand questions?” Seohyun asked clearly surprised with the lack of enthusiasm of her Unnie. In normal days, all of them wait for her to spill the beans as to what happens in her filming day. Strangely today is not that day.

“I’ll save the thousand questions for Fany Unnie and the others,” her Unnie answered smiling at her. “But I do have a question?”

“What is it?” she asked looking at her Unnie for the first time since she came to the living room.

“Do you regret it?” her Unnie asked her.

“Regret what? I don’t understand your question,” Seohyun asked back confused as to what her Unnie is trying to say.

“Do you regret having a taste of a world totally different from what you imagine? Do you regret knowing that there are other colors of life other than black and white?” her Unnie asked seriously.

“No I don’t. I don’t regret a single thing,” she answered truthfully. “In fact, I’m grateful. I’m thankful for all the things that I experienced but at the same time I can’t help feeling afraid.”

“Afraid of what?” her Unnie asked.

“Of what will happen next,” she said. “I don’t know what to do.”

“I’ll help you. I will always help you but before that I need to know what kind of help you’ll need,” her Unnie said looking at her while stroking her hair for comfort.

She leaned her head on her Unnie’s shoulder before giving her the card. Her Unnie read the card. It didn’t take her a long time because there is only one sentence written in it, ‘Saranghae.’

“Did he say anything else?” her Unnie asked before giving back the card. Seohyun gave her cell phone which is opened to the message that she received after arriving at her dorm.

‘I’ll just go back to my company building to return the car and tell them that the filming is over then I will go back to your dorm. We need to talk. Wait for me,’ the message said.

“So you are here waiting?” her Unnie asked.

“No, I’m here thinking,” Seohyun answered

“Do you feel the same way? Towards him?” her Unnie asked looking at her closely.

“I don’t know. I can’t even put words to what I’m feeling right now. It’s my first time having these kinds of feelings. Everything feels strange for me,” Seohyun said looking thoroughly confused.

“Well here’s the thing Hyunnie, I think no I know that you feel the same way. Do you want me to prove it to you?” her Unnie said.

“How do you know when I didn’t even know what I’m feeling towards him?” Seohyun asked. She’s surprised to see how confident her Unnie is.

“The first time that I notice that something is off was when he did the so called ‘mildang’ towards you. You’ve never been worried for someone except for your family and your closest friends let alone a guy. You didn’t even notice if we didn’t call you often yet you’ve been a mess when he suddenly stops contacting you. You’ll always be upset if one of us didn’t use the gifts that you give us and it’s even worse when he didn’t wear the ring that you gave. Your phone is always with you but now it’s like it is attached to your hip. Every time you come home after your filming, your mood is so energetic. I’ve never seen you stalk someone in the internet the same way you stalk for his news and remember when he collapsed after your filming, you wanted to go the hospital so much that you didn’t care if his fans are outside. If Sungman Oppa didn’t intervene, I don’t know what would have happen. Lastly, you attended his concert even if he’s being really mean to you at that time, doing that stupid mildang and all. The fact that you went there just to see him perform even if you’re both not talking at the time speaks volume Hyunnie. I know that you already know what your feelings towards him. You’re just afraid to accept it,” her Unnie explained.

“I’m not afraid to accept it. I’m afraid of what will happen after I accept it,” Seohyun said after a few minutes of silence. Her Unnie is right and she knows it. It’s just that she can’t help but feel apprehensive when she thinks of the outcome of her decisions.

“What exactly are you afraid of happening?” her Unnie asked.

“We’re both idols. Look at what happen to Jonghyun Oppa. It’ll be worse when it’s me and him. They’ll hurt him. I don’t even care what will happen to me but I’m worried as to what will become of our groups. He’s the leader, Unnie. He has three lives depending on his shoulder,” Seohyun answered.

“I know very well what happen to Jonghyun. He’s been careless and I’m not here at the time to prevent the entire scandal. It’s partly my fault and I know that but that doesn’t mean you have to be afraid. You’re human. All of you, idols are human too and idols can date,” her Unnie said.

“What will happen if we both can’t handle it? What if we become a burden to each other? What will I do if that happens, Unnie?” Seohyun asked.

“You just have to cross that bridge when you get there. You’ll never know unless you try, Joohyun. Don’t let regrets and what-ifs haunt you. Seize the moment; take the opportunity because if you let that go, you’ll never know if it will come back at all. Besides, why do you think I’m here for?” her Unnie advised her. She understands it now. What Seohyun needs right now is assurance. She wants to make sure that she’s making the right decisions.

“Unnie, you’ll really help me?” Seohyun asked.

“Whatever it takes. Plus it’s completely different to Jonghyun. Jonghyun didn’t even tell me he’s dating. When I heard about it, it’s all over the news. I can’t do counter-measures if I don’t know what I’m up against. In Jonghyun’s case, counter-measures are no help. I did my best in minimizing the damage,” her Unnie said.

“Unnie, you know Jonghyun Oppa didn’t mean it. He’s really sorry,” Seohyun said reminding her Unnie.

“I know and we already had our talk. It’s in the past. I already dealt with it. It’s kind of a blessings in disguise don’t you think?” her Unnie said.

“What do you mean?” Seohyun asked.

“Well now that there’s already an idol that admitted that he’s dating. The public won’t be so surprised if another idol couple is born. It’ll be like softening the blow,” her Unnie said smiling at her.

“Do you want me to go public?” Seohyun asked.

“Why? Are you currently dating?” her Unnie counter-attacked.

“Unnie!” Seohyun whined before pouting and crossing her arms.

“You’re in the process of going into dating. You’re not exactly dating yet and if you are, the decision to go public will be yours and Yonghwa’s. Whatever you decide, I’ll support you,” her Unnie said seriously.

“Humor me, Unnie. What do you think will happen if the public knows we’re dating, not only me but the other Unnies?” Seohyun asked. She wants to know what her Unnie’s thoughts are regarding this matter.

“Well it’ll be a big scandal, I guess. You’re on the top right now but I guess the public is different now. They are wiser and more understanding. Your anti-fans will have a field day but it’s different you know. You are a girl group and although many fans are really protective of you, the one that will be very affected are your male fans especially the teenage male fans. You know that there is a mass difference between a male fan and a female fan. Few male fans will try to hurt your supposed to be boy friends. They will try to be supportive at the same time they’ll be watching your boyfriend’s move down to the littlest action that he makes. Meanwhile, the female fans are a different story. You saw what happen to Shin Sekyung’s mini homepage,” her Unnie explained.

“I see. It’s scary you know,” Seohyun said.

“I know. You know what, your fans are the least of Yonghwa Oppa’s problem,” her Unnie said after she remembers something.

“Really? Then what will be his greatest problem?” Seohyun asked intrigued by what her Unnie mentioned.

“First, there will be us, your Unnies then he needs to get the approval of the SM Oppa’s especially Suju Oppa’s. Not to mention your ever growing list of fanboys. The ultimate problem will be your parents. You are an only child. I wonder what will be the reaction of your dad,” her Unnie said.

“Whatever happens, don’t ever mention that to Yonghwa Oppa. He’s been worrying about that ever since we started our marriage in the show. If he heard that from you or anyone again, he’ll be more worried,” Seohyun said remembering her endless conversations with Yonghwa regarding with this topic.

“Really? That’s interesting,” her Unnie said obviously enjoying the turn of their conversation.

“Unnie, I mean it,” Seohyun said earnestly.

“Alright, I’ll keep that in mind,” her Unnie said. “He’s running late. You have an early schedule tomorrow, Hyunnie.”

“I know but I’ll wait. He asked me to wait,” Seohyun said smiling.

“Since when did you wait for a guy? You’re supposed to make them wait,” her Unnie said.
“He’s different that’s why I don’t mind waiting,” Seohyun said still smiling giddily.

“I know. I think he’s good for you,” her Unnie said.

“Really?” Seohyun asked.

“Yes, he balances you out. You are so uptight and inflexible but he makes you relax and open to possibilities. He’s so childish and sometimes reckless yet you make him more responsible of his actions. You balance each other out. I’m happy for you both,” her Unnie said.

“Thank you, Unnie,” Seohyun said smiling at her Unnie.

“Don’t mention it. Just make sure that he won’t make you cry because I can’t exactly stop the whole SM from trying to kill him before he can even try to explain what happen,” her Unnie jokingly said.

“Unnie, you’re being absurd,” Seohyu said laughing at her.

“I’m not joking. Our Oppas usually act before asking so better warn him beforehand. Not to mention our Unnies,” her Unnie said before yawning.

“You’re tired Unnie. I’m fine here. You can take your rest,” Seohyun said when she noticed how sleepy her Unnie was.

“Really? Are you gonna be alright?” her Unnie asked obviously trying to stay awake.

“Of course Unnie. You take your rest and I’ll talk to you tomorrow morning,” Seohyun said.

“If you’re sure,” her Unnie said before standing up and walking towards her room.
“Unnie,” Seohyun called her.

“Yes?” her Unnie answered before opening her room.

“Whatever happens, you’ll be with me right?” Seohyun asked.

“Of course. I will always have your back. All you have to do is look back and you’ll see me there cheering you on,” her Unnie said smiling at her.

“Whatever happens?” Seohyun asked.

“Whatever happens,” her Unnie answered. “Besides, who do you think am I? I can do everything.”

“You’re Min Ara, my Unnie,” Seohyun said proudly.

“You’re right. I’m Min Ara, Director of the Min Branch of MPY. You’re so lucky you have me as your Unnie,” Ara said jokingly before going into her room. “Goodnight, Hyunnie.”

“I know. I’m really lucky,” Seohyun whispered. “Goodnight Unnie,” she answered back. When she checked her phone, a new message appeared, ‘I’m here downstairs,’ it says. “Time to face the music. You can do it Seo Joohyun. Fighting!” Seohyun said to herself before standing up.

----------

The drive to Hongdae has never been this long for Yonghwa. It feels like the road became longer, the car became slower and time’s running out. Even if he wants to speed, he knows that he can’t. Besides, he has more important matters to take care of so he needs to focus. He can’t forget the look on Seohyun’s face right before she entered the lobby of her dorm. Her smile, her last bow as well as the way she turned and went outside to give him her first and last hug. The feel of her hands on his, the sound of her laughter and the unshed tears that he saw before he lost sight of her when she finally waved her last goodbye and walk towards the elevator of her dorm. He didn’t know where he got the strength to not stop her and declare there and then, consequences be damn, how he loves her and wants to date her. He just contented himself with the fact that he will have another chance to say the unsaid things that his heart and mind has been shouting all throughout their filming.

When he received the last mission card, he seriously thought to tear the thing into little pieces. He even thought of begging his management to let him stay longer. Just when he thought that they are getting closer, that Seohyun is being comfortable whenever he’s around and just when he thought that he’ll be treating her a million times better just like what he promised to her, this farewell has to happen. He didn’t know what to do. It’s like he’s been living in a dream and suddenly he’s been brought to reality that good things come to an end. But it’s not the end, not for him, not if he has anything to do with it. It is only the beginning and he’ll make sure that it will be.

The minute he arrived at their company building, he went straight to his manager to give the keys of the car and reported that filming is over. He then went to their practice room to check on the guys and see if they are still doing their practice.

“Hyung!” Jungshin greeted him cheerfully.

“Filming’s done?” Minhyuk asked him after Yonghwa signaled them to stop playing.

“Yeah, it just ended. I’m officially divorced,” Yonghwa said trying to joke.

“Are you alright?” Jonghyun asked looking at him like he’ll combust any minute now.

“Of course not but that’s not the reason why I’m here. I need to talk to you guys,” Yonghwa said seriously.

“What is it about, Hyung?” Jungshin asked after he put away his instrument and sit together with them.

“I want you to know that I confessed to Seohyun. I told her what I feel and I also asked her to wait for me so we can talk,” Yonghwa said gauging the boy’s reaction.

“And?” Minhyuk asked.

“If by some miracle and she happened to feel the same way. I want to know if it’ll be alright if I start to date her,” Yonghwa said.

“You’re asking for our permission? Shouldn’t you ask for the management’s permission first?” Jonghyun said confused as to what is the direction of this conversation is going.

“Well FNC doesn’t exactly stop us from dating anyone as long as we keep it under wraps. The reason that I’m telling you this is because whatever happen in the future, if the press hears about this, it’s not just me who will be affected you will be affected too. So I want to hear your opinion first,” Yonghwa explained.

“If we try to stop you, will you still do it?” Minhyuk asked.

“If that’s what you really want then I will consider it but I’m telling you now it’s already too late for me to stop anything,” Yonghwa said.

“We know that, Hyung,” Jonghyun said. “Go for it. Everyone in this room knows what you feel for her. I think everyone that watched your show knows that you’re smitten with her.”

“Jungshin, Minhyuk how about you guys?” Yonghwa asked the maknaes.

“Well since you’re already her husband and I think that I won’t stand a chance if I try to court her then it’ll be better if you will be with her. I can handle that,” Minhyuk jokingly said.

“What did you say? Don’t tell me you’ve been pinning for her all this time? You like my wife?” Yonghwa asked clearly surprised to what Minhyuk have said.

“I’m joking, Hyung. I’m not that stupid you know,” Minhyuk said before taking a few steps away from Yonghwa for safety measures.

“How about you, Jungshin?” Yonghwa asked still eyeing Minhyuk.

“I think it’ll be fun to have Seohyun as a real hyungsoonim. Plus we’ll be able to get closer to the other members if hyung is dating one of them. Perhaps you can make us closer to her sisters,” Jungshin said smiling.

“Thanks guys. I appreciate it and you, Minhyuk, I’ll be watching you,” Yonghwa said pointing at Minhyuk.

“Hyung! I’m joking. Besides I like Sunny sunbaenim more,” Minhyuk said trying to pacify his hyung.

“Good luck, Hyung. Go get Seohyun,” Jonghyun said stirring the topic away from Minhyuk.

“Right. So I need to get going. Wish me luck,” Yonghwa said before standing up and going to the door.

“Good luck, Hyung,” he heard the guys shouted right before he closes the door.

He went out to look for his manager to ask him to drive him to Seohyun’s dorm smiling giddily and looking like a child going to the amusement park for the first time. Meanwhile at their practice room….

“Why did you say that? Are you out of your mind?” Jonghyun asked Minhyuk after he made sure that Yonghwa already left.

“Well, I just want Yonghwa Hyung to relax a little bit. He’s been stressed out ever since he received the last mission card. I’m just messing with him,” Minhyuk said before shrugging and going to his drum set.

“Are you sure?” Jonghyun asked looking closely at him.

“Fine, I’m not going to be a liar and tell you guys that I’m not envious of him. Come on, it’s Seohyun we’re talking about here. She’s like…I can’t even find the right words to describe her. I’ve never met anyone like her and for her to be Yonghwa Hyung’s girl friend, it seems like Yonghwa Hyung must have saved the country in his past life. Don’t tell me that you both didn’t have a slight crush on her even for a minute?” Minhyuk said looking at the two.

“Of course not. I know even from the start that she’s off limits. Yonghwa Hyung sure made that obvious and to let myself fall for her will just result in heartbreak. Anyway, I prefer someone who knows a little bit about relationships. I don’t want to become like Hyung who seems to be careful with every step he takes regarding Seohyun,” Jonghyun said.

“I like Yoona sunbaenim although Sooyoung sunbaenim is pretty awesome too. Seohyun is too pure. I’m afraid I won’t keep up with her and besides I like her more as my hyungsoonim,” Jungshin said before shrugging his shoulders.

“Really? So I’m the only one?” Minhyuk asked surprised to hear what the other guys just said.

“Yup, you’re the only one who has some dirty thoughts regarding our hyungsoonim,” Jungshin agreed.

“Yah! I’m totally screwed. Don’t tell Yonghwa Hyung about this right?” Minhyuk pleads his band mates.

“No dude, I’m not going down with you. Besides, you already announce it a while ago so deal with the consequences,” Jonghyun said while laughing at his dongsaeng.

“Just make sure to follow all of his orders. Clean his room regularly and practice harder. I think it’s better if you won’t talk about how much you like Seohyun in front of Hyung, better yet don’t talk about her at all,” Jungshin advised him while obviously trying to stop his laughter.

“Oohhh. It’ll be very exciting in the dorm. I wonder what Hyung will do to you. You know how dangerous he is when he’s seeing green,” Jonghyun said still laughing.

“Hyung, help me. The dragon is really scary. What will I do?” Minhyuk asked desperately.

“You’re on your own,” Jungshin said before resuming playing with his bass.

“Let’s start the practice,” Jonghyun said ignoring Minhyuk’s protests. They start their rehearsals albeit Minhyuk’s grumblings.

-------------

Meanwhile, in the car going to Seohyun’s dorm…..

“Yonghwa, can you tell me what you’re going to do once we get there?” his manager asked Yonghwa.

“I just want to talk to her,” Yonghwa said purposely avoiding looking at his manager’s eyes.

“Can’t you do it on the phone?” his manager asked.

“Nope. I need to tell her something really important,” Yonghwa said still avoiding the topic.

“Look, I’m not just your manager; I’m also your Hyung. I look out for you not just because it’s my job but also because I care for you, for the four of you. I’m sure something is up and I want to know it. I don’t want to be the last one to know, Yonghwa-yah. I can’t protect you if that happens,” his manager said looking at him imploringly.

“Fine, I’m going to confess how much I like her. I’m hoping to date her,” Yonghwa admitted.

“You want to date? With your busy schedule? Have you forgotten why you’re leaving the show? It’s because it’ll be very hard to find a suitable filming time for you two. Your schedule doesn’t match up. How are you going to date her?” his manager asked him.

“I don’t know. Right now I’m currently worried if she’ll accept me. If she ever did accept me, I guess I’ll figure out a way for us to be together. I can’t let her go Hyung,” Yonghwa said dejectedly.

“I know. You’ll be the world’s most stupid person if you let someone like her slip out of your life but I’m asking you, are you ready? Can you deal with the consequences?” his manager continues to grill him.

“I’ll deal with the consequences as long as I’m with her. You know how selfish I am Hyung. I want it all and I am willing to work my ass off just to get it, including her,” Yonghwa said.

“Alright, I’ll support you. You know that FNC doesn’t exactly prohibit their idols to date but the one that you chose is a little bit of complicated so I think you’ll need all the help you can get,” his manager said smiling at him.

“Thanks Hyung. I really appreciate it,” Yonghwa gratefully patted his Hyung’s shoulder.

“Just don’t do anything that I wouldn’t do and always be careful. Tell me beforehand if you’re planning something so I can figure out a way to do it. I bet the boys will help you too,” his manager said.

“Yes, I won’t forget what you said Hyung,” Yonghwa answered.

“Just try to get some sleep. I’ll wake you up if we’re there,” his manager ordered him before he goes back to concentrating on his driving. Yonghwa did what his manager said. He tried to sleep but it seems like his mind and body has other things to do. He just can’t stop being restless. He’s excited yet nervous at the same time. He’s afraid of what will happen yet he just can’t wait to see Seohyun again. So he entertained himself by looking at their pictures on his phone until he heard his manager said that they arrived at her dorm.

He asked his manager to go somewhere else, leave the car and he’ll just contact him afterwards. He decided to take a short walk to the park to clear his head and ready himself to the inevitable talk he needs to have with Seohyun. While he was walking, he can’t help but remember all of the things that he and Seohyun did. All of her expressions, her cute smile and her soul-penetrating gazes that always leave him weak in the knees. He tried to remember when he started to like her. Is it when she sang for him in Kanghwado for his birthday present? Or when he decided to do the stupid mildang just to be closer to her? How about when he struggle to find a suitable birthday present for her or the jealousy that he felt when he saw the clips of SM Town concert where she held hands with Kyuhyun sunbaenim or when she told him that Jungmo Hyung helped her in her guitar assignment or whenever one of her fanboys would make a pass on her? How about when he made a fool out of himself and danced the Genie dance just to cheer her up after their failed attempt at getting their driving license? Maybe it’s when she first stepped into the lobby of MBC? Maybe it’s even before that. He’s not so sure. The only thing that he’s 100% sure is that he’s hopelessly in love. He’s head over heels, madly, deeply and irrevocably in love with her and he’s about to let her know it. His nerves are a complete mess that’s why he decided to take a walk first. He’s determined to face this ordeal and emerge triumphant.

After his little time for himself, Yonghwa went to the back entrance of the building and took his cell phone out. He then typed a message informing Seohyun that he’s downstairs. The reply came instantly. ‘I’ll come down now,’ it says. Yonghwa heaved a sigh of relief. ‘At least she didn’t fell asleep. That’s a good sign right?’ Yonghwa asked himself while waiting for Seohyun.
When he saw Seohyun walking towards him, he felt like the air was squeezed out of his lungs. He suddenly had hard time breathing and his palms became sweaty. The closer she walks, the more nervous he is. ‘You can do it, Yonghwa. Just be yourself. It’s just Seohyun. She won’t hurt you, right?’ Yonghwa said before taking deep breathes. ‘How can she still look beautiful even at the break of dawn? She really is a goddess and you’re totally a goner, Yonghwa. Get a hold of yourself. You can do this or else….don‘t think of or else right now. Focus. Here she comes. Smile,’ Yonghwa said readying himself.

Prologue – Start of Something New

“Sungman Oppa!” Seohyun greeted her manager cheerfully.

“Anyonghaseyo, Oppa.”

“Anyong, Seohyun-ah. Are you ready?” her manager asked before taking her bag and helping her to their car.

“Ne but where are we going? I’ve been asking Codi-Unnie but she’s not answering me,” Seohyun said while arranging her things in the car and finding a comfortable sitting position.

“You don’t know?” her manager asked clearly shocked that Seohyun was not told beforehand.

“Know what, Oppa?” Seohyun innocently asked.

“You’ll be doing an interview,” her manager said resigned to the fact that he’s the one who will have to explain the entire situation.

“Interview? By myself? About what, Oppa?” Seohyun rapidly asked.

“The management thinks that it is time for you to step up. They want the public to know you not just SNSD’s Seohyun, the calm and collected maknae of the number one girl group in Korea. They want more of that,” her manager started to explain.

“By doing an interview?” Seohyun asked completely confused of what’s happening.

“That’s just a part of it. Remember what Yuri and Sunny did before joining Invincible Youth?” her manager asked slowly trying to explain to Seohyun what her new project is.

“They met the PD-nim for an interview. Wait! Am I joining a variety show?” Seohyun shockingly asked. ‘That’s absurd. Everyone knows how awkward I am without my Unnies. A variety show is for people like Heechul Oppa or Yuri Unnie even Sica Unnie can do better than me in those kind of shows,’ Seohyun thinks.

“You’re right. You’ll be doing a variety show in MBC,” her manager admitted.

“Alone?”

“No, of course not. You’ll be partnered with someone.”

“But it’ll be very awkward,” Seohyun stated. She’s beginning to feel nervous. “What show, Oppa?”

“Don’t panic. Just think of this as a new learning experience plus it’ll be your chance to promote yourself,” her manager said obviously trying to make her feel less nervous.

“What show, Oppa?” she asked again feeling somewhat suspicious to the fact that her manager is purposely avoiding the topic of what her new show is.

“We Got Married,” her manager answered quietly but enough for Seohyun to hear.

“What? But I’m only 20, I can’t be married. I don’t know what to do. How will I act? I don’t even know how to be a girl friend let alone a wife. Oppa, it’ll be a disaster. Can the other Unnies do it instead?” Rapper Seohyun was in full charge. She doesn’t know what to think. Though she is grateful for the chance her company is giving her but doing WGM is too much. ‘Don’t they know that I’m not interested in boys? How many times did I tell in an interview that I don’t have an ideal man? Why in the world would they put me in WGM?’ Seohyun screamed in her mind.

“You think I don’t know that? Do you know how shocked I was when I heard the news? I tried to persuade them but they won’t relent,” her manager said obviously feeling sorry for her.

“Yoona Unnie. Yoona Unnie can do it,” Seohyun said. Her mind is formulating different ways to avoid doing the show.

“Yoona was casted in Family Outing 2, remember?” her manager said looking at her and saying through his eyes that she can’t escape this predicament.

“Sooyoung Unnie, how about Sooyoung Unnie? She’s the one who wants to get married early. Or Hyoyeon Unnie, she’s very funny. She’ll fit in the show. Sica Unnie or Fany Unnie. Taeyeon Unnie can do it again. Every one will do better than me, Oppa,” Seohyun said still thinking for other alternatives.

“Taeyeon has Chinchin, Sica is busy with her musical, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon and Fany will circulate on other variety shows. They are good with people so the company wants them to be free to guest on every other show. Besides, the company wants you, Seohyun. They want you to step out of the shadows of your Unnies. You need to grow up and be independent. You can’t hide behind your Unnies forever,” her manager explained.

“I’m out of options,” Seohyun dejectedly said before pouting and looking at the car’s windows.

“Joohyun-ah, I think it’ll be good for you. Trust me. You’ll learn a lot of new things. Things that even your Unnies can’t teach you. Maybe you’ll find your first boyfriend there,” her manager said purposely teasing her to lift her mood.

“Oppa! I’m not interested in dating. I need to focus on my work as well as my studies. I have many things I want to do,” Seohyun said still looking at the sceneries outside the car.

“Then just treat this show as another work too. You’ll never know what will happen. You’ll enjoy doing this show. I’m sure of it. By the way, Ara will arrive today, right?” her manager asked trying to steer the topic away from the show and into things that he’s sure will definitely make Seohyun happy.

“Ne, Ara Unnie will be here later,” Seohyun said instantly forgetting her current worries at the mention of her favorite Unnie besides the Soshi Unnies.

“I wonder what her reaction will be to Fany’s surprise?” her manager asked happy that Seohyun seems to be getting alright.

“She’ll like it,” Seohyun said surely while imagining her Unnie’s reaction.

“How about her reaction when she finds out about your new show?” her manager teases her again.

“I think she’ll be very surprised,” Seohyun said upon remembering her new show. Strangely, she doesn’t feel bad anymore. ‘Maybe Sungman Oppa is right. I should just treat it as a show. It’s my chance to learn new things after all.’

“I bet she’ll feel bad,” her manager said.

“For me?” Seohyun asked.

“No, for your future husband. Even I feel bad for him,” her manager said laughing at her confused face.

“Oppa!” Seohyun whined before crossing her arms and glaring at her manager which only makes him laugh at her harder.

Meanwhile at the Incheon Airport…

“Director Min!” Ara looked around trying to find the one who’s calling her.

“Yoonshik Oppa!” Ara said smiling at her personal secretary.

“It’s nice having you back here in Korea, Director Min,” Yoonshik said before taking her bags and helping her to her luggages.

“Oppa, just call me Ara. It’s just the two of us here,” Ara said while failing to try to help Yoonshik in carrying her bags because of the latter’s firm hold on it.

“But I can’t just call you by your name casually. You are my boss,” Yoonshik replied after successfully putting her luggage at the trunk of the car.

“Then as your boss, I’m ordering you to call me by my name when it’s just the two of us. It’ll be strange to call you Secretary Kim when in fact I’ve been calling you Yoonshik Oppa since I was a child, “ Ara said sitting comfortably at the back of the car and fiddling with her cell phone.

“You got me there,” Yoonshik said looking at her through the rear view mirror and seeing Ara smiling at him knowing that she won an argument yet again.

“Oppa can you take me to the office directly?” Ara said while looking at some company files.

“I’m sorry but I can’t. I was ordered to take you to your house directly. No detours. Besides you need to rest,” Yoonshik said.

“Even if you take me home, I’ll just take another car to get to the office. My condo unit is just 10 minutes away from the company building,” Ara said.

“I’m not taking you to your condo unit,” Yoonshik replied while stealing a glance to gauge Ara’s reaction.

“What? You’re taking me to my family house? That’s too big for me and it’s far from the company.” Ara is obviously confused. ‘There’s something going on here,’ she thinks before studying Yoonshik Oppa’s facial expressions.

“I’m not taking you to your family house either. You will be staying at a new house. A dorm exactly,” Yoonshik explained purposely readying himself for the outburst.

“A dorm? Are you out of your mind? Why would I stay at a dorm when I have perfectly fine condo units here in Seoul? Even a hotel is better than a dorm. Did my dad put you up for this? What’s he planning now?” Ara asked feeling annoyed. If there’s one thing that can get on her nerves, it is not telling her something beforehand and leaving her surprised by the outcome. Planning is her nature and she doesn’t like it if someone even if it’s her dad ruining her perfectly laid plans.

“No, your dad doesn’t know about this but even if he knows I’m sure he will approve of it. Someone who has more convincing powers put me up for this. I think it will be good for you. Its bad being too workaholic, you know. I think you’ll have more fun at your new dorm,” Yoonshik explained.

“Where’s the dorm?” Ara asked. She’s having an inkling as to who’s behind this plan. After all, there is only one group of people that can make Yoonshik Oppa do something that she won’t approve of.

“Cheongdam-dong,” Yoonshik answered.

“Fany Unnie. It’s Fany Unnie right?” Ara confirmed the answer just by looking at the guilty expression of her assistant.

“Aargh! Why do you want me to live with them? They’ll make my life a living hell. I won’t be able to do my work correctly. They’ll distract me and make me forget all of my responsibilities. They always want me to just have fun. I might go overdosed in happiness and ended crazy and useless. After that, my dad will blame you for putting me into this in the first place. He will lose his only heir. Remember, Dana doesn’t like to inherit the company,” Ara complained non-stop just to get out of this crazy situation.

“Stop being overly dramatic. You’ve been watching many TV shows lately. They’ll be fine. Spending time with them will help you relieve some of the stress from your work. They’ll be your endorphins. Besides, you totally love them,” Yoonshik tried to pacify her.

“I do. I totally love them. They are part of my family. SM Entertainment is my second family but that doesn’t change the fact that they all drive me nuts most of the time,” Ara said slowly resigning to the fact that she can’t escape.

“That’s what family do. They drive each other crazy and in return that makes life more exciting and worth it. Trust me, it’ll all be fine,” Yoonshik said.

“But…” Ara start to say something before she was interrupted by the ringing sound of her phone. ‘That’s weird. No one is supposed to know that I’m here already,’ Ara thought before picking up her phone.

“Hello?” Ara answered.

“Uri aegiya!” the voice on the other line greeted her cheerfully.

“I think you got the wrong number, Mister,” Ara said annoyingly. She already knows who the caller is. There is only person brave enough to call her stupid nicknames.

“Uri aegiya, why do you sound so off? Did someone annoy you?” the other line sweetly asked.

“You got that right,” Ara said. Listening to him makes her vomit. The sound of his childish voice causes goose bumps all over her body.

“Who is it? Tell me, aegiya,” the voice said.

“Do you really want to know? I’m currently talking to him,” Ara answered.

“Come on, is that how you greet your favorite Oppa. We haven’t talked for months,” the voice said.

“Heechul Oppa, how many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me with your pet names? It’s creepy! Save it for your girl friends alright,” Ara said.

“Aegiya, how many times do I have to tell you that it doesn’t matter if you like it or not, I will still call you whatever pet names that I want for as long as I like. I’m your Oppa. You should listen to me,” Heechul said before laughing.

“Aargh! You’re so infuriating, Oppa,” Ara said giving up. Heechul Oppa is a lost case. No matter what she says, he will just do whatever suited him.

“Anyway, where are you? I know you’re in Korea already. Let’s dine out, my treat” Heechul invited her.

“How did you know I’m here in Korea?” Ara asked.

“I’m here at the company. I heard some staffs talking about how you’re here a week earlier than schedule.” Heechul answered.

“SM staffs are really admirable. My flight was supposed to be a secret. Even the press doesn’t know that I’m arriving today. They were informed that I will be here together with Juno and Yuki next week. I wonder where SM got their information.” Ara wondered.

“Don’t change the topic. Just answer my question and tell me where you are,” Heechul said.

“I’m currently being kidnapped, Oppa. Can you help me?” Ara calmly said.

“What did you just said?” Heechul shouted.

“Relax Oppa. If I’m being kidnapped they wouldn’t let me answer my phone right?” Ara said laughing at him.

“Explain this to me clearly,” Heechul said seriously.

“Fany Unnie has this idea that since I’m gonna be very lonely in my condo, she thinks that it’s better for me to be transferred to their dorm,” Ara explained remembering her current situation.

“That’s a great idea,” Heechul said.

“Oppa! Not you too,” Ara whined on the line.

“Well if it is possible I have already done the same thing,” Heechul said on the line.

“That’s disgusting! You live with Suju Oppas and I’ve seen your dorm,” Ara said obviously creeped out.

“I said if it is possible. You need someone to live with. You tend to forget things when you are working and that includes taking care of yourself. I heard about what happen in New York,” Heechul said.

“I know. I already apologized for that. Do I have to say sorry to you too?” Ara said remembering her accident in New York.

“No but you need to promise me something,” Heechul said.

“Why do you sound so serious suddenly?” Ara replied smiling.

“Ara-yah.”

“Alright, what is it?” Ara asked although she already knows what Heechul Oppa will say.

“Promise me that you’ll take better care of yourself,” Heechul ordered.

“I will Oppa. What happen in New York won’t be repeated again. So don’t worry and just stay as my childish Oppa and everything will be fine,” Ara answered.

“That’s great! I’m so excited for you. You staying at Soshi’s dorm will be like an endless sleep-over. It’ll be so much fun,” Heechul said returning to his jovial state.

“Thanks Oppa. You really are the best,” Ara said.

“Of course, I’m Kim Heechul,” Heechul proudly said.

--------------------

A few weeks later at Hongdae, FNC Building, early in the morning.
“What is the meeting all about?” Yonghwa asked his manager. He hardly slept. His schedule finished at dawn and he felt that he just closed his eyes when his manager wakes him and his band mates up for an emergency meeting.

“Hyung, why did you call us so early in the morning? Did we do something wrong?” Jungshin asked their manager too.

“It’s not like that. The president wants to talk to all of you,” their manager said. After that they all wait for the arrival of their company president while trying to stay awake and focused. A few minutes later, he arrived.

“Good morning guys. Have you slept well?” the president asked.

The boys just look at him sheepishly.

“I’m sorry for calling you this early. I know that you have been having a tiresome schedule but this matter is really important,” their president said.

“It’s alright, Mr. President,” Yonghwa answered for the boys.

“Well then let’s start. As you all know yesterday Yonghwa filmed his first episode in WGM. I heard that you’re partner is none other that SoNyuhShiDae’s maknae, Seohyun-ssi, right?” their president confirmed the answer with Yonghwa’s nod.

“Now we entered you in WGM in hopes of having opportunities to promote CNBLUE more. It is one of the steps in making the public know not just Yonghwa but all of you. Fortunately, you are partnered with Seohyun. We all know that SoNyuhShiDae is immensely popular. Their fanbase is scary. Because of that, we evaluated the pros and cons of the situation,” their president paused to read the boys expressions. After seeing them thoroughly focused in to what he is saying, he decided to continue.

“When I heard who your partner is, I actually thought of pulling you out of the show. Understand this guys, Seohyun is the maknae of the number one girl group in Korea. Her fans and the fans of her entire group are most protective of her. Also, her image is that of a pure, innocent girl who is fragile and unattainable. Not to mention that she belongs to the number one entertainment company in Korea, the SM Entertainment. Do you realize how big of a problem it is? Just one wrong move not only from Yonghwa but also from the three of you and it will all blow to our faces. You are rookies and the public has been keenly observing you. Now that Yonghwa joined the show the public will be watching all of your every movement more closely than before especially the fans, especially her fans. Do you understand?” their president asked.

“Yes. So that does mean that you’re pulling me out?” Yonghwa politely asked.

“No, of course not. I will be the world’s greatest fool if I let you pass out in this one of a kind opportunity. I just want you to know what you’re getting into. Because you’re not just getting involved with SM, you will also be involved in MPY Group of Companies. This can be a big help for us or it can be a great disaster depending on how you will behave towards her,” their president said.

“Wait, how is doing WGM get me to be involved with MPY?” Yonghwa asked obviously confused.

“Do you know what MPY do? It’s history and all?” their president asked.

“All we know is that they are the second biggest company in the world, next to Microsoft Corporation and that their heirs are here in Korea,” Minhyuk said.

“What you said is right but there’s more to it than that. Mr. Choi?” their president said signaling for their manager.

“Ok guys, let me explain to you all about MPY Group of Companies,” their manager said. “Listen carefully because this knowledge can make or break your career.”

“Alright, we’re all ears,” Yonghwa said.

“As you all know, MPY Group of Companies is the second largest as well as richest company in the world. Many rumors have been circulating that they are planning to merge their company with Microsoft Corporation which will make them even richer. MPY was founded by three best friends namely Min Dong Jae, Park Sung Hyun and Yoon Ki Tae. They are known as the three Gods of the Business World. They are all half Koreans half Americans. MPY is divided into three main branches and each branch deals with its assigned specialty. The Min Branch focuses on Information Technology, Multimedia and Entertainment, and Telecommunications. The Park Branch focuses on Electronics, Malls, Hospitals and Construction Firms. Meanwhile, the Yoon Branch deals with Hotel and Restaurants, Cars and Banking. In all fields of business that I mention, they are currently the number one. They have many affiliates with renowned company and you can’t even imagine their influence and popularity in the business world. They are one of a kind,” their manager explained in detail.

“Wow! They are scary,” Jungshin said obviously impressed by what their manager said.

“Wow indeed. Imagine how lucky we will be if MPY gives their support for our company. We will be renowned too,” Minhyuk said.

“That kind of company can’t be all good. If they are as powerful as you said, I’m sure there are some conspiracies that we don’t know,” Jonghyun said.

“Hyung, you’ve been watching so many action films lately,” Jungshin commented.

“Don’t misunderstand. MPY is as clean as water in the mountain river. MPY’s benchmark is discipline and fairness. They are known to be extremely fair. They don’t do any things that will destroy their reputation. Even their statements of assets and liabilities are open to the public if they wish to know it. That’s how transparent they are. They pride themselves of being the company that doesn’t hide anything,” their manager explained further.

“How does that concern me joining WGM?” Yonghwa asked.

“Well here’s the thing, Yoon Ki Tae has three children, two girls and one boy, and the girls are already working in their company. He’s youngest child, Yoon Yuki is the heir that Yoon Ki Tae chose. Yoon Yuki will be taking his father’s position in the near future. Meanwhile, Park Sung Hyun only has one child, Park Juno so it is only natural that he is the heir that will take over Park Sung Hyun’s position. Lastly, Min Dong Jae has two daughters, Min Ara and Min Dana. Min Ara is the eldest so Min Dong Jae chose her to take over his position. Those three are here in Korea for their on-site training. They will be the directors of the three branches.”

“I have a question. Why do those three are here again? I mean, if they will be the directors shouldn’t they be in New York where the main office is located?” Minhyuk asked.

“Well, we only heard rumors but apparently the three Gods decided to send the Golden Trio as the press like them to call here in Korea. They are very conservative and it is only natural since they are Koreans. Park Juno and Yoon Yuki are the same age as you Yonghwa and Min Ara is younger by a year. The three Gods want their children to experience how it’s like to operate a business here in Korea. They also want to keep them away from the liberties that the people their age do in New York. I think that they thought that if they are here in Korea, there will be fewer temptations and the three will be more focused on their work than anything else.”

“That still doesn’t answer my question as to how will I be involved with them,” Yonghwa said.

“MPY endorses other companies. I mean they give them their support. If you are endorsed by them, you will surely be a great hit. They also endorse artists. It’s only natural since they are in the entertainment business as well. If you want to be endorsed, you will send your resume and then you will go through a series of audition just like when you want to be a trainee for a certain entertainment company,” their manager said.

“So you want us to try the audition?” Jonghyun asked.

“Yes but not now. That’s not the main point here, guys,” their manager said.

“Then what is the main point?” Minhyuk asked.

“The one that handles the endorsement of artists is the Min Branch. MPY chose SM Entertainment as one of the company that they are endorsing. It means that before they debut an artists, they will need to pass the audition from MPY. That is like hitting two birds with one stone. You’ll be an artist from the number one entertainment company in Korea as well as you will be endorse by MPY. Min Ara, the director of the Min Branch is also a shareholder in SM. Do you know who Min Ara’s closest friends in Korea?” their manager asked.

“Who?” Jungshin asked.

“SNSD?” Yonghwa asked.

“You’re right. SM artists are really close with Min Ara. In one of her interview, she mentioned that SM Entertainment is her second family and she is closest to SNSD. We also heard that she lives with them now,” their manager said.

“So you want me to be really careful as to not sabotage our impending audition with MPY?” Yonghwa asked.

“Besides that, we want you to be careful and not to do any inappropriate things to Seohyun. Not only the fans and her label mates but Min Ara will be watching you as well. Min Ara is known to be very protective of those she holds dear to her especially those that are younger than her,” their manager explained.

“Alright, I’ll do my best,” Yonghwa said.

“Hyung, if MPY is already endorsing SM why do we still need to take the audition?” Minhyuk asked.

“MPY only chooses one company in one business field and they chose SM in the entertainment field but that doesn’t mean that they can’t endorse other artists from other companies. It only means that all of SM artists are being endorsed by MPY,” their manager said.

“Do you know other artists that they are endorsing?” Jungshin asked.

“There are many, all of them are really successful. Bae Yong Jun, Choi Ji Woo, Son Ye Jin and others but I heard that Min Ara changed the context of the audition. She is very picky as they say. At first, it’s her father that chooses the artists and for her father if you are really talented then you are chosen. This time, it’s Min Ara who will choose and rumors are spreading that the screening is really tough. Aside from the SM artists and the artists that are chosen already only 2AM, KARA and 2NE1 passed the audition this time,” their manager said.

“Who are the other singers that are chosen before?” Yonghwa asked.

“Big Bang, Se7en, Lee Hyori, Rain, JYP, GOD are the only one that I remember. There are many more but now that the screening process is very hard we want you to do your best,” their manager said.

“Yes, we will do our best. Right guys?” Yonghwa said.

“Yes,” the three answered.

“Now let’s ready to practice. We have a show later,” Yonghwa said ordering his band mates.

“That’s the spirit!” their manager said smiling at their enthusiasm.

‘I’ll be walking on eggshells from now on. Not only do I have a wife that is as blank as a white paper when it comes to relationship, I also need to be careful of her fans, my fans and all of the people not only in Korea but in the whole world. To top it all, she’s close friends to the most influential people too. Now what do I get myself into?’ Yonghwa thought while ordering his team to start the practice.
